VVT cam gear failure, the next steps?
6 Attachment(s)
vvt 2001 run in on the track for couple years. appears intake cam gear exploded after first lap at Buttonwillow. no bad noises and no abuse since engine was built. Debating if VVT controller had anything to do with failure. Engine limited to 7200 rpm and no special abuse that day. I don't find any available aftermarket gear available so just back to stock?

I'm a long way from stock. Could be the hp, very light flywheel, AEM EMS, or rpm. Belt ripped lengthwise and across, so unlikely belt. One of the suppliers I called said it was his second call today on this item..... Dealer price is $ 660 and my race discount isnt up to date so I bought a used one. Actuator and gear only come together.

Wow, that's a new one. Can you upload some bigger pictures? Or am I the only one seeing tiny pics.
I'd install a Gates Racing belt, a new OEM sprocket, and make sure everything is actually torqued correctly. |
"engine was built" you say? Was this part touched?
