VVT head on 94 Escort GT BP, CR?
I have a lowish mileage BP from a 94 Escort GT that I'd like to put into my 1990. Just wondering if anybody knows what CR I might expect if I swapped on a VVT head? I am having a hard time finding a conclusive answer as to the stock CR of the 94 EGT engine..
Also, for a VVT head swap, do I need the 01+ intake manifold or will the 94-97 Miata intake bolt up? Thanks for the help guys. Tim |
The 94-97 manifold will bolt on but the ports and runners don't match, you need a 99-05 manifold (not necessarily a 01-05, a 99-00 will do).

Port matching wont' cut it (long shot)?

A very, very long shot indeed.

You need a NB IM. They're cheap and easy to find.
Also, don't forget that the VVT engines run higher oil pressure to operate the VVT bits. Might want to get a 01-05 oil pump. |
The VVT head have the same Comb Chamber volume as the earlier BP heads, so there will be no CR change.

Roger that, will need 99+ manifold. I haven't seen any talk of the Square top manifold's lately.. if I have to buy one it sounds like it makes sense that I would go that route. Or maybe I should be looking at a modified Honda manifold, anybody actually geared up to build these yet?
