Walbro 190HP on a VVT swap
Chassis is a 94 and the motor is a 2002. I used the 99-00 fuel rail and mounted a used 90-93 FPR upside down for my install. I've been having some weird issues where the pump doesn't want to prime and a new fuel pump is cheap enough to warrant a new part since the car does have 210k on it.
I've seen a few threads on m.net (surprisingly not about Nardi wood shift knobs or brushed aluminum sills) of a few people having issues with the fuel pump killing the stock FPR. Should I be worried about the FPR or should I be good to go? The only thing I've seen on MT is this thread from forever ago: https://www.miataturbo.net/prefabbed...ock-fpr-13580/ Thanks! |
It should be fine. I've heard a couple people say even a 190 destroys stock FPR but have yet to have any problems on any of my cars or any of my customers cars. One of my buddy's is running a 190hp on a bone stock 99 for 3 years now
*edit: though all that I have experience is NB's, so take that for what you will |
Any issue with the sock? I can order a new one off of Mazdaspeed and fit it to the Walbro if needed.

all of them came with their own new sock and installed fine. I think the last wally I bought was from lightning motorsports and it was like 85 shipped for the whole "kit" year specific
