Question Boundary Engineering oil pump gears

So i got some Boundary Engineering oil pump gears and went to put them in today but they don't fit. I have a 94 1.8L, i took the oil pump off the engine then unscrewed all the Philips bolts to get to the gears, took them out and put the BE gears in and when i tried to put the cover back on i noticed that the BE gears are at least .5mm thicker so they do not spin in the housing with the cover on.

Anyone had this problem?

Sounds like you might have gotten the 01+ vvt gears. Just shoot Travis an email.

I got them from y8s and he said they are for the earlier cars and not the 01+.
Is that the difference between the 01+ and earlier models?

That's the first I heard of this problem.
I remember when Y8S got them and then it was determined that they only fit the non-VVT motors, which is why he sold them...

OK I'm the big idiot here. I had to go back and search old emails and PMs and found out that I actually got him to swap the 01 gears for my 99 gears back in december 08. I had forgotten and since they weren't labeled... well you know.

We have a few options...

Easiest is probably I paypal you $15 to cover shipping to and from Travis who will probably just trade them out with you if I sweet talk him (ups says it's about 7.70 each way--or you could do the USPS flat rate box for $5 each way)

Next is to find a 2001 oil pump to rebuild and just put the gears you have in it... resulting in slightly higher flow.

Last is to get your pump machined to fit the larger gears--but I'm not sure how well that works.

I vote for #1 or 2 and I can talk to travis if you want.

Thanks for letting me know what happened.

Lets go with the first option... talk to Travis and if he says yes i can mail them in the USPS flat rate box to him for an exchange.
