Default What kind of shop for welding stainless?

I've got an Enthuza 3" stainless exhaust, and I want to have a resonator welded in. I talked to Jason and he said he does not have an NB to test fit on right now so I should just find somebody locally to do it.

What kind of shop would do the best job of this? I have heard from some friends that it is difficult to find an exhaust shop that welds stainless, and most that do use mild steel filler. The nearest performance shop won't answer their damn phone, and the next closest is 45 minutes away. I am going to try a local mechanic this afternoon, he advertises stainless exhaust so it's worth a try.

Find a fabricator in your area, he should be able to help you out and do pretty TIG welds.

Is "fabricator" the same as "welder"? I have a welder I have been going to, but he doesn't seem to have a very good understanding of cars so I am hesitant to have him cut and weld my exhaust without messing up the relative locations of the ends.

Are you putting it in a spot that will be cut and weld, as in no bends need to be made?
If nothing else, call a restaurant kitchen repair man, car wash service man, or tanker truck service man. All of the people have the resorces to weld stainless and most will be mobile. Try to talk with the tech and not their dispatcher, as in independant contractor.. they love easy money.

+1. There's an oil guy who lives in my apartment that welded a piece of my exhaust for beer, lol. We are friends now. He is cute.
