What is normal voltage sent to trigger MX5 coil packs?
 

As the title says.. what is the proper amount of voltage to be read from a volt meter when connected between ground and the trigger on one of the coils. This is a '99 Miata (NB) for all those wondering.

I have a Microtech LT10s that is driving the coils, and in test mode (1200-1500rpm), I am reading 2.14v being sent to the coil trigger wire using a simple digital multimeter. The problem is the Microtech unit very quickly fried the stock coils since it was using a dwell of 3.5 -- it still starts and runs for about 5 seconds but thats about it, and I am blaming the coils since they fail an ohm-meter test across some of the pins as having absolutely no connection at all.

I've searched google, forums, everywhere and for the life of me cannot find the normal voltage that gets sent to coils on the trigger to fire them. If someone can explain to a simple person like me how the trigger exactly works, that would be wonderful.

I will be replacing the horrible '99 coil packs with the toyota COP's (90080-19015) but do not want to damage them if the wrong voltage is being sent.
