Default Interesting intake manifold on Ebay

i was looking on ebay and saw this.
dont know if anyone posted this yet.

eBay Motors: Mazda MX-5 Miata 1.6l intake manifold B6 1992 up MX5 (item 350154912285 end time Feb-16-09 21:29:54 PST)

i know there was a huge discussion on intake manifolds before, and this looks really close to what everyone was talking about. Is this someone on this forum? Says seller is from Thailand though. Hmm...

Comments and suggestions on qualtiy?

I would be a bit suspicious buying a 500+ dollar part from an ebay ad in which the seller cant spell or use proper grammar.

well the guy is from thailand. If he's from the US, i would give him **** for that too.

the manifold looks really nice, but things like if it will crack, who knows.

if you look at his store, he has some really nicely designed headers and intake manifolds for other cars too.

another thing would be price: begi sells intake manifolds cheaper and that is someone I'd not have problems trusting.

I guess If I had a ton of money and was bored I'd give something like this a try. But I'm not so its not appealing to me...

If it was cheap I'd say go for it...otherwise just wait till BEGi has prices for theirs.

It looks like a good mani to me. But yeah - it's CDM at a premium. I'd just sit back and wait for the price to fall. Since they've just started showing up, it might not be too long until they're populating all the eBay tuner stores and the price comes down. But I wouldn't pay a BEGI price for a CDM piece.

Part actually looks nice, but way overpriced for eGay, and I could not stop laughing reading th description. Only funny because that's what my numerical methods prof sounded like this morning.

anytime i see anything polished like that from ebay I know it's crap....notice the parting lines in the cast (inside shot) I bet those fail first.

I think we keep coming back to the same issues with Chinese parts: Materials and Designs.

Many parts have great designs (they stole them from the world's best engineers after all), but are made with inferior materials. I see this at work all day long. You can't use lower grade steel with the same geometry and expect it to perform the same.

The parts that are made with the right materials (eg, stainless exhaust manifolds) they screw up the design on. They either change the geometry (often thickness) of an existing design, or come up with something that altogether won't work.

Chrome coating a cast part to make it look welded and polished just reaks. I'm tired of seeing it, I'm officially not buying jack off of ebay.

EDIT: And is that the best install pic they could come up with? It looks like Mr. T's Miata.

Although is this case the volume of that plenum has me worried, **** has gotta be twice the volume of mine, which is IIRC 2.2L or something.

NOzz Hi-Performance! Just the name tells you what you need to know.

Someone throw $100 at the best offer button and see what happens.

That's a fabricated manifold. In other words, welded and polished. Only the plenum and possibly the runners are cast.

Looks like its fairly well made, whether it works or not is a different matter. I'd be concerned with the welds cracking, so its probably a good idea to fab a bracket that holds it up like on the stock 1.6 manifold.
