Where are all the Chinese rods?
I've notices a steep decline in the cheap Rods being offered on eBay, and also noticed m-tuned and 949 being out of stock.
Are we in a get them while you can state, or will I be seeing them being back in stock in the near future? |
I think Belfab has them but do business with that guy at your own risk.

You're welcome. Same rods holding 297whp in my car now for over 10k miles and a lot of dyno and track time. |
Did you swap out the bolts it came with to ARP hardware?

It came with ARP bolts. The 87xx ones? I forget which exactly. I still put in ARP2000
s but it's overkill. IIRC you can pay an extra $30 or so and upgrade to ARP2000 from the vendor. And Clos561, not much torque :P... but that's soon to change. It's Rotrex'd so it's kind of something I have to live with. The car hauls however, Here is the only dyno sheet I have access to here in Germany. Since this one, I have made an extra 8whp or so all the way to 8000RPM. As you can see this plot only goes to 7850RPM or so. They are holding together at 8000RPM and 300whp so that's something to think about too... And I drive to that RPM regularly, while under quite a bit of load (hillclimbs) https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1312059371 |
My machinist said there was no need to change the rod bolts on my Chinarods for sub 350whp, on the track.
|
Yeah hes right. I just did it because I like overdoing everything.. And I have power goals in that area once I resort to aux injection.

Upgraded rod bolts aren't necessary at any power level at stock rpm levels. The rod bolts are only really loaded in tension at TDC as the rod swings from compression loading to tension loading. If you're making a billion hp at 2000 rpm, you could run Harbor Freight cheeseball 1/4-20s. If you're making 100hp at 11,000 rpm, you need huge rod bolts.
|
My B. Better up-option those rod bolts then, cousin.
