Where to buy 3bar sensor

Hi, I am looking to replace my failing gm style 3bar sensor that I bought years ago at diytune. I tried a cheap amazon one and it just reads max load even with the car off. Where is a good place to buy one and for a decent price if possible as I see they range from like $15 to $110?
Thanks

sixshooter 07-24-2022 10:08 AM

DIY Autotune still sells them.

DIY is expensive. I have one on order from fab9 for about $50. I can't seem to trust advanced auto parts or amazon as both "3 bar" units I bought show up as 1 bar. When I put my failing one back I see the proper readings.

Lol @ trusting anything from fab9

nolig2278 07-25-2022 12:14 PM

Wait....., what is wrong with fab9?

Do a search for their name in this forum and enjoy the horror stories.

Yea they want me to buy 96 of them, so sorry I am not spending $4800 for this!!! Thanks though.

I see issues with the fab9 COP from Fab9 but that doesnt mean they can't sell me an actual 3bar GM style sensor. Crossing my fingers, cause I really want to drive my car again and would like to not spend $80+

msmola2002 07-25-2022 01:59 PM

https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pr...87blk87kn3igv5 you can buy this one individually?

And with fab9, it is not the quality of the product he is going to drop ship you, it is more the service or lackthereof.

sixshooter 07-25-2022 02:15 PM

My new Skunk2 throttle body arrived with only a piece of the original box because he sells factory returned merchandise as brand new. He drop ships things he says that he has in stock but he doesn't have any stock. If he sells you something that was factory returned at full price and there is a problem with it you cannot get him to stand behind it because he can't return it because he bought it as is. See also modified and damaged ATI damper he sold another member here. He did not want to take it back because he bought it as is from the manufacturer since it had already been returned once. He stiffed the customer.

There are many more incidences but I'm at work and don't feel like recounting them. Good luck with your purchase.

As of right now, you can buy a USA-made 3-bar sensor from either Ballenger at $69.99 or DIY at $78.

Those are good places to buy it and you will receive what you order.

You can continue to buy cheap parts from the local auto parts store or Amazon and waste time and money discovering they're DOA or the wrong part, and your car won't run while you dick around with this.

You can wait and hope that Fab9 sends you the right part before the next ice age. And your car still won't run while you wait. And if the part is DOA or the wrong part, good luck getting your money back.

To me, it's a no-brainer. The price difference between the guaranteed part from Ballenger/DIY and the others is less than a tank of gas at today's prices. Isn't that worth having a running car?

If you want to cut corners and have a decent return policy

there is always rock auto
https://www.rockauto.com/en/partsear...rtnum=12223861

But I'd not be gambling on a chinesium copy - your ECU bases your fueling strategy on the numbers this sensor provides. Is it worth your engine?

I'd pay the extra couple bucks for the ballenger unit, myself

Actually that's a lie
https://www.haltech.com/product/ht-0...rt-map-sensor/ I'd buy this one cos I like douche connectors and it is balleur.

DNMakinson 07-25-2022 04:15 PM

Or this one at $45?

nolig2278 07-25-2022 11:22 PM

So it is part number 2223861, 16040749 ?
Looks like Rock auto has the Delphi a little cheaper than Ballenger.

Thanks

Magic 8 ball sez "probably".

You are also likely to get the Chinese made version the Ballenger text references whereas the Ballenger one is a US made alternative.

Thank you, i have no idea where I pulled up that other number. I did have the one you mentioned above in my RockAuto cart, made by Delphi.

you are missing the point. Made by Delphi means less than it used to, that’s why Ballenger, DIY, etc point out that their specific parts are made in the USA. I am not one to chase a “made in USA” tag for political or biased reasons, but in this case it appears to be a quality control issue.

buy from Ballenger or DIY and stop wasting our time with your attempts to save a buck.

we tried to save you from wasting your time and money. Don’t listen to our advice, do something else, and expect sympathy when the discount part you receive inevitably fails.

nolig2278 07-26-2022 12:00 PM

Ok, I canceled Rock auto and ordered from Ballenger. Thanks for the advice and help finding the right part.
