Why is VE so high?

My ve is around 118 at 2000rpm's? And they stay high.

ID1000's (from 2012, were cleaned in 2018), fm dual feed rail converted to singe path, walbro 450 pump, fuel lab fpr, MS3 pro pnp, cops, 99 head with exhaustake, 94 block with 84mm supertech pistons, 90 chassis, EFR6758

Any thoughts or insight is much appreciated...I am about to just throw more money at it and hope the problem goes away bc my tuner and I are both at a loss. Thanks!

Do you want wild guesses? Cause that's what you're going to get without a current tune/log.

astroboy 07-25-2020 01:57 AM

Not really but it sounds like you dont suspect the injectors? I will work on gettin a tune/log on here but I was honestly trying to discern if its a software or hardware issue.

No one can make any definitive diagnosis based of the information you've provided. I can think of at least a few things that can cause your issue, and some of those can be ruled out by glancing at a tune/log. That's why it's so important to include them when asking a question like this.

Common with ID injectors. Not sure why. I have the same "issue" on both my Miata and on my Audi. ID1000 on the Miata, ID1050x on the Audi. Both have the deatime and small PW data from ID dialed in the tune.

Really? So then its not an actual problem?

I dunno, what’s your dead time? What’s your required fuel? What’s your fuel pressure? What’s the condition of your wideband? What afr are you trying to achieve? What other corrections are active?

It's definitely not a mechanical or tuning problem. It reflects that these injectors require a longer total opening time than a normal injector for the same volume of fuel injected. This is probably why the idle is really good on these. They don't have to open for 1.4 or 1.5ms, I find that 1.85-1.90ms is what it takes to idle at 14.7. Now whether that's at 60VE or 120VE, I don't really care to be honest.

Based on what data? I agree that high VE numbers aren't necessary a problem if everything is configured correctly, but high VE numbers can very easily be caused by a configuration issue.

Reverant 07-25-2020 02:28 PM

Based on multiple installations of ID injectors. I've also seen the same on the FIC injectors, although it's not as "bad". Denso injectors don't have this issue.

SpartanSV 07-25-2020 02:44 PM

I run 1050X's and I'm quite a bit lower than 118 at 2000 rpm.

I think it's unrealistic to make a definitive statement without more information.

I have ID 1050x on a turbo vvt motor in a 1990 with MS3 Pro PNP.

Idles at 60 and 180 kpa at 7000 RPM is 101

I'd say your injector data is wrong.

  • Do you have incorporate AFR on? If not, that will make your VEs higher.
  • What is your req_fuel set to?
  • What is your IAT correction curve like? What IATs do you see?
  • Are you vac referenced on your FPR? What base differential pressure is it set to?
