A begi reroute is coming in tomorrow and i want to leave my heat core as is for now seeing as it's going to get cold soon and even without a reroute my car doesn't get hotter then the tstat rating on the highway. what i am planning on doing is installing a on off lever between the rear water neck and heater core in at the firewall. On for when it gets cold, off for track and 1/4 open normal driving to help with warm up. I am also planning on running the oil cooler line to the water return hose going to the upper radiator neck and removed the line from the front feed neck to mixing manifold.

I know the oil line move will work but not sure it the heater core on/off and removing the mixing manifold line form the front water neck will crate water flow problems before the tstat opens at 180*.

So will there be flow problems? or is there a better way to achieve the same results? and yes i am :noob:

I had a similar question about adding a coolant valve I found on a Celica into the heater loop. The included diagram shows how I was planning on doing a simple Kia rear head water outlet reroute. I happened to notice the simple coolant valve in the Celica sitting next to the Kia I got the water neck from. Looks like the valve was hooked up to the heater controls inside the car and actuated that way. I was planning on using in open for the street and closed for track. I am sure that the little extra time to warm up wouldn't hurt anything on the track especially with a nice gradual warm up lap.

If this is not feasible I also I have a nice Swagelok 3 way valve that I could install to either reroute the coolant through the heater core back to the mixing pipe or to a Tee somewhere on the hot side radiator hose. When running on track there will be enough differential pressure to flow coolant through the heater core and therefore the engine while the thermostat is closed. Once the thermostat is open, you don't need the flow through the heater core and everything should work fine. When you switch to return to the mixing manifold everything should work like normal.

I am not turbo yet but am swapping in a 1.8 and doing all the work I can possibly do while the engine is out that is easy to do now.
I have not seen any posts with people that have successfully used any valves in the reroutes, some stuff about restrictions though.
