Wiring question

Hi,

i don't know if this is the right section to post it.

I want to run a 1.8 VVT turbo engine in my '90 Miata. I have the original wiring loom of the 1.8 engine. I'm going to use a MS3 that support the vvt.

Can i just swap the complete engine with engine loom into my '90 miata without cutting into my 1.6 loom? Or do i need some parts of the 1.6 engine loom?

i have seen a lot of thread about putting in a 1.8 into a 1.6 with stock ecu, but i'm going to use a stand alone ecu. So is it necessary to use the 1.6 loom because i have the 1.8 loom that came with the engine and will be using a MS.

greetz,

Boy

I am assuming you mean VVT instead of SVT.

You do not want to change the harness out. The 90-97 have a single harness for the full car, and it is a royal pain in the ass to swap the whole thing out. You build the MS wiring harness to mate up to your stock 1.6 harness. Then you install the VVT motor. Then you follow the wiring guide in the VVT swap sticky thread.

Sorry Changed it in to VVT. I didn't know that the 1.6 has a full car loom. So i need to do some modification to my 1.6 and take parts of the 1.8 loom to let it work?

There is a VVT mega swap thread as a sticky. Go find it and go read it several times. All of your questions have been answered before.

If only someone had written a comprehensive writeup summarizing hours and hours of research into the exact same topic you are asking about.
