Idea for 3d printed object: dash cluster housing

Here is my thinking... The stock oil pressure gauge on the NB sucks and there have been people who have shown how you could cut/break the dash cluster housing to fit a gauge in there. Rather that cut and glue though, would it be feasible to print an entire dash housing and bolt the stock components into it with the exception of the oil pressure go/no-go which would be replaced by a more appropriate selection?
I am not sure how much it would cost or if there would be a market, but at the right price I would rather buy a new part designed specifically for an aftermarket gauge of my choice rather than cut and glue something in there.
Is this a horrible idea?

True, but I am thinking it would be attractive for people that want something other than oil pressure in there, or a combination oil pressure/temp gauge.
I think it's a good idea, but I think the design would have to change a bit from the stock piece to work with printing. Also, expect it to be more fragile.
Not a game changer, but probably a fun little project that would be tougher than you think.

You can stick any 52mm gauge in there if you take it out of it's housing, with very minimal modification to the cluster (minor trimming). See thumpetto007's thread where I recently did it.
