Begi take notes.

GT3man2001 01-29-2009 02:43 PM

I think we accidentally included that BOV by accident.

Oh well. :D

You know how sometimes you should say things that make mistakes work in your favor. Well this is one of those times.

Instead of being seen as a company that does surprisingly nice things for people, now you are a company that apparently doesnt have enough competency to check a packing list and fill a box.

At least you have company, Begi is the in the same boat.

;)

Unless of course, someone else packed the box and you just dont know about the inclusion of additional, un ordered, items.. In that case you have even more problems.

Saml01 01-29-2009 03:18 PM

And your westfield configurator doesnt work. I just got my tax refund and was ready to place an order and now I cant, so ill have to go to Caterham instead.

Because this was a used item, there's not a "packing list" per say. It's one general part number for the entire setup. There may have been a mis-communication somewhere along the line with shipping as to what was included. However since he already has it, and it would not be worth spending the money to have it returned, then it'll stay with him.:)

I'll have Keith look at that. He's been working on it lately and making some updates.

Well that's retarded. How the hell do you keep people accountable for what they pack?

If I was your boss id go to the guy who packed the box and ask him to withdraw from his wallet the value of the BOV and put it in my hand.

You cant charge him for it either even if you did want it back and he didnt send it. Gotta love the internet and the law for that one.

A.You never do production development during business hours.
B. Development is done in a separate environment to A.not interrupt business B. not destroy working code C. to verify that new code works before deployment.

They aren't Microsoft yo. They're a small company and I'm sure they wont lose 1000 sales if they do a little business hours redesign of the website.

Maybe not, but that shouldn't be a reason not too.

Keith@FM 01-29-2009 04:52 PM

Actually, it was a simple mistake on my part - turns out the live version of configurator shares one file with the development one. Now that I know about it, problem solved. Although you can't place an order through the configurator anyhow, so just give us a call with that tax return money.

It's a website, all hours are "business hours".

Our shipping department rocks. People call up to say a part is missing, and we can tell them that "No, it's packed in the same box as the air filter, you just haven't opened that yet" with confidence. In this case, it was a used kit and the message didn't get through that one of the parts of the used kit shouldn't be included. Things happen, leatherface is happy, the only person upset is a random person on the internet. And there's always one of those somewhere.

It's fun to hate, isn't it?

Braineack 01-29-2009 05:32 PM

hey I got a sticker so I'm happy.

http://boostedmiata.com/random/wilwood_valve.jpg

mazda/nissan 01-29-2009 06:32 PM

maybe I'll get a turbocat when I order something, I've seen them modeling the products so it could happen

Vashthestampede 01-29-2009 06:42 PM

I've spent thousands at FM easily. I probably have 25 invoices from them in my "miata parts" folder. I only get what I order, never anything extra, not even stickers. And my last order I made for the silicone IC pipes, the little 1" coupler wasn't in there. Not the end of the world, but its the point.

I must say, I was definitely turned off the last time I called and spoke to Jeremy with some questions. Dude pretty much acted like he had something better to do. Since then I have ordered nothing from them. No big deal, I'm just another small fish in their pond, they don't care. But for the amount of money I have spent there over the years, I feel they could care less.

Not hating, just expressing my opinion.

Vash-

msydnor 01-29-2009 07:01 PM

Dude makes order, gets his shit plus shit he didn't order, company says my bad, keep it. I don't see the fucking problem:jerkit:

Keith@FM 01-29-2009 07:14 PM

Vash, Jeremy comes across like that sometimes on the phone. But he knows his stuff, so it's worth talking to him. Better than a super-friendly guy who doesn't know what he's talking about. We've only recently started including stickers with orders, and I'm sorry we didn't send you things you didn't order. As for the 1" coupler missing, did we sort that out for you?

Email me your address Vash and I'll send you a couple of stickers.

mazda/nissan, the shipping on that turbocat would be fairly high. He's a stocky boy :)

I guess what I was trying to say was that over the years, being a faithful customer that spends a decent amount of cash, I'm surprised there's nothing to make me feel valued. I always thought the power club was pretty bogus. I've definitely spent just as much as a new turbo kit and never got even one offer for 5% off.

I didn't even email you guys about the coupler, I just picked one up locally. Like I said it wasn't the end of the world. You guys are awesome in the miata scene and I've been a customer for a long time and I'm sure I'll continue to order from you. I was just sharing my own personal experience/opinion.

Vash-

y8s 01-29-2009 09:00 PM

Jeremy does have something better to do. He likes to play in the snow.

FWIW, if you email him, he'll email you several times a day for a week if you have difficult questions.

hustler 01-29-2009 11:40 PM

everyone is entitled to a bad day on occasion.

Also, I'm going to put an FM sticker between the begi and tdr stickers on my daily, lol.

Agreed, for reasons not having anything to do with their company. I'm just shocked they can stay in business when so many of us are such cheap SOB's! :giggle:

thirdgen 01-30-2009 08:58 AM

Since this seems to be a "bust on Flyin Miata" thread, I'll share my opinion.
1) I didn't ever have a bad experience with Flyin Miata, I think they sell the best quality Miata turbo parts that money pays for. Everything fits like it should. They have good tech support and well written instructions.
2) Only gripe I have with them is simple. I live in Pennsylvania, and they are in Colorado. I could order 5 studs for my turbo outlet, and they'd still charge me a fortune to ship it, and it would take exactly a 8 days to get here.

You can't have a list of all pro's when you buy from anywhere, you gotta have a few con's. Flyin Miata doesn't have too many con's in my book.

lol j/k. On a side note, the MBC didnt work but its all good. Thanks again for the shipping "error":)

I did not get a sticker from FM. This is bullshit, I'm calling the cops.

y8s 01-30-2009 09:57 AM

I'll give you both a whole bunch of flowmaster and summit stickers ok?

+1

I'm tired of sellers and vendors complaining when we complain and give them a hard time. I don't think you could find a narrower target sales demographic than us, and we are trying to help by providing our opinion.

Even BEGi, a company I would buy $10 snowcones from, certainly has their issues, and they need to know how everybody feels about them.

Racing is after all about improving the breed.

If you need that MBC, give us a call and we'll work it out. As for missing stickers, beatings shall commence in the shipping department forthwith. This will not stand!

Vash, thanks for the feedback. We try to make our customers feel valued, and the Power Club is one aspect of that. We're always looking at our programs to see how we can improve them, and that's one that's under scrutiny right now - so your opinion definitely matters.

Are you serious? The last thing in your post was "How you people stay in business is beyond me."

You've obviously never bought anything from the 500 shitty companies with poor or no instructions and customer service farmed out to Sanjaya in India, have you?

Frank

Thats easy, they stay in business because they can afford to lose business. The cost of the outsourced labor and cheap imported product is far less then the business they lose, so it wouldnt break them.

Sleeper_MX5 01-30-2009 12:11 PM

FM is Awsome! I havn't had any problems with them yet. Always cool. Even when things go bad. A lady called me yesterday and ask how my installation was going? I thought that was some cool service that begi does not have..

Me neither:vash: I want a full refund for my propvalve now:giggle:

levnubhin 01-30-2009 01:15 PM

I have no complaints from when I ordered the exhaust and suspension for my NB. Everything came as expected and I even got a free T-shirt.

Edit, I also got one of them stickers.

BEGi gave me a sticker and a t-shirt, I felt loved.

Keith@FM 01-30-2009 02:31 PM

levnubhin, that's a killer looking car.

jayc72 01-30-2009 03:24 PM

I like FM. They've sold me quality items I want for a price I was willing to pay. What more could I ask for. A free T-shirt or exhaust system would buy my unflinching loyalty for all time ... hint hint.

patsmx5 01-30-2009 03:27 PM

No kidding. Free t-shirt with every order would be my policy. It will pay for itself in advertising alone. Also pay for itself in customer appreciation resulting in repeat customers.

Atlanta93LE 01-30-2009 03:44 PM

Hey Keith; isn't it nice to see so many self-proclaimed experts on a random web forum give advice about how to run a small business? I don't know how you show the restraint you do putting up with this crap. Thanks for stopping by this forum now and then, despite knowing what jerks we'll be :giggle:

y8s 01-30-2009 03:56 PM

This thread reminds me of this place a year ago. Everyone just sat around bashing the shit out of FM. I'm glad we all get along so much better now.

Jeg's does that with hats it seems, and it pisses me off. If you can throw in a free hat why not just give me a better deal on the parts.

BTW I <3 Flyin' Miata

msydnor 01-30-2009 04:43 PM

Guy orders shit, gets shit, plus free shit, vendor says oops, just keep it, people complain like little bitches because guy got free shit? :bang: Somehow I fail to see the problem.

The hat is free advertising. It works. They could hand out $1000 dollars worth of hats in a month or knock off X% of the price of the parts they sell in a month. The hats will result in more sales later on.

I know the sponsors see people bashing them and it's hard to hold their tongue. but a lot of it is constructive criticism if you look hard enough. Sam is right IMO and Keith shouldn't make fun of someone offering advice. I mean, he may be just some guy on the internet, but now I'm another because of what you said. Doesn't help your business to publicly make fun of anybody.

yeah but your kind of biased, you seem to have something against every vendor on this forum :)

And -1 on the free hats, stickers and shirts are cool, but when I receive a Summit hat I'm just like :robert:

Keith@FM 01-30-2009 05:42 PM

I don't mind constructive criticism. We get some excellent feedback from our customers and we take it seriously. However, it's taken much more seriously if it's delivered in an intelligent manner and not as aggressive antagonism. I'm sorry that I reacted like a human being, I have to keep reminding myself what the typical tone is on this forum and to not let the insults get to me.

We've looked into things like shirts, and considered it. The problem is finding some that are inexpensive enough to put in orders without being cheap. All that stuff has to get paid for somehow though.

I vote against it. If you give away free stuff somebody on here will be pissed. free stuff is bad!!!!:giggle:

y8s 01-30-2009 06:46 PM

they give away free tshirts at baseball games. they're all XXL. who the hell are they sizing those for? fattest common denominator?

stickers are fine. I'd throw out bullshit hats I dont want. Jegs/Summit are the K-Mart of car parts stores. no wait I take that back. JC Whitney is K-Mart. They're Target.

cjernigan 01-30-2009 07:40 PM

2. Jeremy always sounds like he's busy on the phone. If you have EM tech support issues, send him an email. He's very good over email.

3. Leatherface, WTF man, you went turbo again?!?

usd2bfst 02-02-2009 01:24 PM

Sorry if anyone felt like I was being short on the phone. In reality what it comes down to is that when doing tech I'm focused 100% on answering the question / solving the problem / helping the customer to make their car better. With the huge volume of tech calls and emails that come in to FM every day I like to keep on task in order to answer everyone's questions in a timely manner. Nothing personal! FWIW, my fiance', my best friend, and even my mom can rarely keep me on the phone for more than 5 minutes- uness they have a problem or are looking for advice. :)
