Hot wheels, Thank you for the vote of confidence.

I am not a supporting vendor, and your dollars should be spent with the machine shops that are.

Bogus. When building a miata block for reliable (as possible) big power (400+), what machine work would you recommend?

I think he'll recommend to sawzall up the cylinder walls and break them in a bit.

The same as I would on any Hyper 4 build.

Detailed inspection during tear down, check piston to deck clearance, crank end play

Bore/hone as needed, torque plate if avaiable

Deck block, clean everything.

If stock rods are to be used, check the big end for round, Install ARP rod bolts

Balance rotating assembly

Polish/grind-clean crank as needed

ARP-Rods (stock), Head and main studs
(some blocks need mains align honed with the use of ARP, at a min the housing bore needs checked)

As much head work as the coustomer's pocket book can handle with the 1.8l

From what I see the head is the weak point, the bowls have alot of room for improvement, the runners are rough and can use a good smoothing.

When you compair the head of the 1.8L Mazda to the Mitsu. 4g63 or the Honda B or H, The Mazda head is lacking in its overall finish.
