Hopefully, IB will be a bit better than they were with another forum I used to frequent - went downhill man, went downhill big time.

Miataturbo looks different for me.

Scroll to the VERY bottom of the page, where it has a drop down menu saying "MT 2011". Change that to "Miata Turbo old school".

I never liked the new skin, hurt my eyes.

I am pretty certain they will pull something together for you guys.
I tried to convince them to NEVER EVER put tapatalk on here but they wouldnt listen.

They need to make revenue just like I did. They have to follow the same TOS with Google as the next guy.

Perhaps they will uncensor the site, I don't know what they will do on that front but if they did they would be opening up a bag of you know what ;)

I can only speculate about who you are talking about, but IB is good in the sense they wont jack this place up with ads. They have a good running track record of being very different from every other forum company out there.

I personally like the censorship. It allows those of us at work to look at the forums with less risk.

Yea, IB wont be changing staff or doing anything drastic. I am going away and in my place they sit. It was good for me to refocus and it was a good fit since I knew they wouldn't turn this place upside down (which would be putting it right side up  ).

IB has a good track record, check out their sites.

Have you sold them all of your sites, Rick, or just mt.net?

Not in the least.

I do not like the way IB does business. For starters, they'll usually double the ad rates. That makes it impossible for a small advertiser like 949 Racing and SuperMiata to support as many forums as we do. IB comes in, I let my sponsorship lapse and go elsewhere. There will be larger advertisers taking up the slack. Advertisers that are in no way involved in the community but are able to pay the price and only too happy to see their scrappy little competitors (me) go away.

IB is a huge and highly profitable company. They are also growing fast, gobbling up forums at a startling rate. Turns out there are lots of advertisers willing to pay whatever rates they ask.

You notice this board is using vBulletin 3.73? That's about a 4 year old version. IB bought the previously open source vBulletin software and promptly started charging for updates and tech support. Cruise the web and see how many forums are still on 3.84, including miata.net.

The forum members, contributors are cogs in a wheel, need see nothing and are not really affected. There is a lot more to IB than most forum users are aware of. They are not a well loved company.

So yes, my prepaid annual sponsorship will run out and both 949 Racing and SuperMiata will cease to support this board. I will no longer visit nor post on this board.

I harbor no ill will towards those who profit from the sale of this property. Business is business and everyone has to do what they feel is right for their them.

It's been fun guys. Thanks for your business and support over the years. See you elsewhere on the web and of course, on the track.

Ill keep it short and sweet since I am on daddy duty. :p

From what I have gotten in email and verbally, rates of current vendors don't increase just because they took over.
The best person to discuss it with is IB Nolan as you can pm him here:
https://www.miataturbo.net/members/ib-nolan-26157/

I didn't upgrade VB because of custom dev and designs, not because of cost.

This is a very niche market and if the users have treated you well I am not sure why you would leave if the rates are the same.

That is really sad. I have bought 6ul wheels (through Goodwin) but you have done a lot for the miata community. I always love you reading your post as well as looking at the innovations that you come up with. It would be nice to know where we still might find it besides M.net.
