i’ve been advised that you can now disable ‘lazy loading’ if you dislike fuzzy images. is this true?
|
I actually got fuzzy pictures for the first time in a while today. This was while loading the random pics thread in a very weak LTE area of the plant i was in.
Literally every other time pictures load normal. |
I don't know. I was not aware that was an option, because once again, The Overlords have made the site worse without stopping to think if anyone would like it.
It's all a bit hollow to say "Yeah 100% of what we do to this forum is awful, but don't worry, YOU as the end user can be responsible for (and able to!) mitigate at least 80% of it." Food for thought: Not on any other forum i've ever been on (and i've been on many, you should see my inbox around my birthday), have i had to jump through such hoops just to make it usable. And then despite all that, not on any other forum i've ever been on (and i've been on many, you should see my inbox around my birthday), have i seen so many HTTP 500 errors, or just general blank page loading. Basically what i'm saying: Almost everything you guys (i don't mean YOU specifically, you seem like a nice guy and i'm guessing you have no authority at all) do to this place is trash. We would all much appreciate it if you ran that up the corporate ladder, maybe with a suggestion to get a nice handle on the stability issues long term (it has been at least 5 days since i've gotten an error, so that's nice), and maybe less emphasis on "enhancements" that not a single actual breathing meatbag would ever ask for. |

@Robb M. disabling "lazy loading" seems to have worked, thank you. :)

i appreciate your forum community experience and empathize with your frustrations towards what ‘we’ have done here over time. today’s changes were introduced here first because i had hoped they would address the main things i have been hearing here.
Hoping whatever is up with images this evening is isolated. |
Yes yes i have much DPE when it comes to forum-ing.
You're fun, have a cat. |
unsure why you would be unable to edit. is the button missing?
|
Nope it's there. I can perform the act of editing, but when i click save changes, they do not save, and i am left with my original post.

We are the sandbox, but our litter comes pre-shat in.
We are the dogs finding the tasty nuggets within. |

What code do you suggest I use instead? |
does [ code ] work for you?

The code tag is already in use. It
Code:
encloses stuff in a box. |
I am now getting spammed with thread notification emails for posts that are multiple months old.
Please make it stop. |
I've gotten over 100 in the last 5 minutes.
@Robb M. please make it stop before i blacklist the site. |

Maybe @Joe Perez needs to clear a cookie or two to fix his wysiwyg diseases.

[b][i][u]not sure why no parse works for this?[/b][/i][/u] In the third paragraph, beginning with "But for President Trump," there is a hotlink under "every opportunity" which, if clicked, leads the user to the original Twitter post. This is a convenient way for an author to cite sources. Show me how to emulate that format. Where I have this whole paragraph: But for President Trump, the dispute was not to be missed. It offered red meat to a president who has eagerly stoked the culture wars, while seizing every opportunity to discredit the news media. reproduced in such a way that the hotlink exists. |
When I respond to a PM in the quick reply box, it has defaulted text to being set to the center. It is far less annoying then everyone else's issues, but 100% more important for when I occasionally decide to read and respond to PM's.

highlight the text you want to hyperlink, click the hyperlink icon, paste the URL, and you're done.

This started happening around the time IB took away the buttons at the top of the composer to manually insert the tags for YT, FBV, etc., and started doing it automatically. |

So, if i type text before uploading the picture it will delete the text entered and then replace it with the image. Please fix this. |
So you want to be able to play a Trump card in order to have things like this not embed the tweet?
twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1086995116496224256 |
worked for me?

twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1086995116496224256 Try doing it so that it looks like this: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...398707d49a.png Where "every opportunity" is a hyperlink to the tweet. |

I see a break!
|
I think we're on the same page now.
It's been like this for months. But, seriously, I do appreciate that a lot of stuff did get fixed in the most recent update. |
Having the same problem with text deleting as well. I just had bunch of text delete while making an update to my main build thread.
Hey Robb, could you please ask them to put down the crackpipe when they make changes? :) |
Apparently the image upload deleting text is a known issue that is currently being addressed. As well, the no parse/AME issue has been flagged for the team who are now working on a fix for that also.
|
Awesome, good to hear :likecat:
|
Ya'all really testing my patience.
Remember that time in here i disabled "Lazy loading" at your recommendation and confirmed that it worked? It did. Today, i'm seeing fuzzy pictures. This time, armed with prior knowledge, i go to my settings, and MAGICALLY, IMPROBABLY, Lazy Loading is set as "enabled." I did not do this. Why did this happen? |
Apparently, just to piss you off.
|
Fuzzy is something that should describe cats, not the pictures of the cats I'm trying to look at.
|
Holy SHIT it did it again. I'm now viewing fuzzy pictures in this very thread.
Went into options, and it's fucking enabled again. I switched it again, hit save changes. Went back to my control panel, and IMMEDIATELY back into that setting, and it's BACK TO FUCKING ENABLED AGAIN. STOOOOPPPPPPPPP. @Robb M. |
Yep, same for me. Check disable, hit save, then go back in and it is set back to the fuzzies.
Lame. |
No one wants this. Plz stahp.

What's the point of any of the changes made to the forum? Nothing is improved that I can see. EDIT: Your shitshow deleted my text above the picture. What's up with the popup identification of the box while I was typing (pictured)? |
i hit the wrong button and broke it for about 2 hours. i fixed it now. sorry guys.
|
It feels like IB is doing change just for the sake of change. The functionality of the forum software has not been improved over the past year.

We fixed the copy/paste and image upload issues today. lmk?
|
|
Getting fuzzy pictures again. Confirmed they are disabled in my control panel.
Why are you guys such garbage? |
We're just trying to have a little forum here. You guys keep trying to make it even littler by making people not want to use it.
Is internet brands trying to drive down the value of their stock on purpose so the ownership can buy it back? |
i don’t know what is going on here, nobody informed me they were making changes today. it figures though. i am out of office checking out the lego bugatti today.

Serious question: Is there a manager / director who is actually in charge of development and deployment of software at IB? |
Let your boss know that he could fire a couple of people over there and the Forum could collectively come up with somebody more competent to replace them for similar money. We have fantastic new hire interviewing skills as you may have noticed from some of our threads.
