FWIW, I have the same issue (on Android). Images are always "sized to fit" with no option to zoom in (eg: pinch / stretch).

Given the small size and low resolution of my display, this usually means that I can't actually see anything useful in the image.

sixshooter 07-12-2013 11:12 PM

Yes, Android - Galaxy S3.

The lack of zoom kills the ability to see pics or read captions.

Are you kidding me? You just disabled the mobile version of the site in order to push us to your app?!?! Come on itb. I was just praising how you have handled this transition and you go and screw it all up.

This just means I have one less popup to click decline to to get to mt.net on my phone. I use the full site in opera classic on my Galaxy Nexus and honestly have never had the need for any sort of mobile app.

FRT_Fun 07-14-2013 11:32 AM

Wait people still use mobile versions of sites?

Oscar 07-14-2013 11:34 AM

The one issue with the pics I have (besides everything's double) is when clicking an image in a post with multiple pics, it takes me to a gallery of all the pics in that post and starts at the first one instead of directly enlarging the pic I wanted to see. Other than that, the app is pretty solid.

Will there be a props viewing/adding feature or did I just miss that?

I do. It is very convenient when in areas with slow cellular speeds.

I personally hate the trend of applications for every thing on the web. It is redundant and not needed. HTML5 is more than capable of handling and creating very easy to use mobile friendly websites. I want to visit a site and have a functional user friendly platform. That was the case here, and now its not. Yes, I can use the regular site and browse it on my phone and I will continue to do that, but it is inconvenient to do so. It is frustrating when people take away perfectly functional items.

m.miataturbo.net

Mobile theme is also still there at the URL above when on a mobile device, if you get the app pop up then simply answer with "no thanks"

We are changing the cookie length for that prompt to show only once a week instead of every 24 hrs so it is less annoying to those who prefer the mobile theme.

Thanks! m.m.net was forwarding to full site before.

I'm getting used to using the mobile app when it is inconvenient to use a computer and I have noticed several problems.

1. Many pictures will never load. Good connection or bad, refresh or wait, they won't load.

2. All pictures are small when they do load. They cannot be zoomed or resized.

3. The application crashes often when I am uploading pictures. This supposedly sends a crash report every time. You must have over two dozen from me alone.

4. When pictures are uploaded and "inserted inline" they appear as thumbnails on the regular site and must be clicked to be viewed.

5. Some of the moderation tools, such as merge posts, are not readily available (or I haven't found it).

I find it to be a very handy and useful application. I'm just letting you know what I'm seeing form the field.

We are currently active at fixing the crash report bugs and some of the strange issues with picture uploading. On the whole we were'nt completely happy with how well the application works at all so we are working on a completely new one (easier than continuing to throw bandaids on the current one for major changes). The new one is in early development but should be available in 2014. It seems awesome in early tests and should fix and improve upon all current features in the app.

Mock-up photos for the new app:

More recently we are testing a usable mobile template on a few sites. Scionlife.com has it live now for those curious enough to test it, select "New Mobile" as the style.

If without problems it will be rolled out in a month or so to MT. Here's a pic of that theme FWIW:

I'll beta test if needed.

Jeffbucc 03-16-2014 10:40 PM

Any update on this? I don't mind the app for the most part but the constant crashing, photos not loading, unable to zoom on photos, lag on the keyboard definitely gets irritating from time to time.

sixshooter 03-17-2014 08:02 AM

And if I try to edit a post it doesn't give the option to add more pictures as attachments. You can only post pics in a new post.

This mobile app is awesome!!

sixshooter 06-28-2014 01:21 PM

It needs work.

Agreed. It makes my eyes bleed. I stopped using it long ago.

Jeffbucc 07-01-2014 01:07 AM

I don't care so much about the look, just the core functionality of it.

-images load rarely
-no zooming of said images
-crashes often
-no multi quote
-poor app scaling for different phone models
-no built in subscription management, need to use browser.

I'm sure there are several other things I'm overlooking but those are my biggest qualms. Seems like the website owner is being some what stubborn and asinine by creating an app and not updating/supporting said app. Not using Tapatalk, which is a god damn breeze to use in comparison, just seems like reinventing the wheel and using octagons.

I'm really not bugged by it that much, even though it seems I am, I just use my phone for most things these days and appreciate a good app.

I am not a fan as well. Any reason why we cant use Tapatalk?

All of these points plus 1:

On my Nexus 5 - the bottom 3 back/home/tab buttons automatically hide normally in other apps. They don't in this one, and it causes them to overlap the bottom app buttons.

This means I have a super small area to press for the index/recent/subscribed etc buttons
