phone version

is there a plugin for the forum so people can surf the forum on their fone. its a pain to download the full version.. I've seen it on other forums and figured it would be nice

Ben 03-05-2007 05:08 PM

I don't have any big complaints browsing the forum with my treo (sprint). A wap version would load faster, but it's probably also a PITA to program.

Loki047 03-05-2007 05:29 PM

I'm on a sprint treo too, its a plugin for the forum and automatically generates the thread for cell phones with its own url.

this is my way of telling philip that I want it.. sooo shhh and pretend you want it too.

ben, 650 or 700?

Ben 03-05-2007 05:38 PM

ahh, oh well then I want it too! :x:

I have a 650, which I got when they first came out, to replace a 600. The 650 is much better than the 600, but the 700 isn't really all that different from the 650, especially not enough to justify the cost.

Philip 03-05-2007 08:49 PM

it can be done, the question is do I want to pay for another virtual domain to make it work...

Philip 03-05-2007 11:07 PM

found a better way.
try it, it should auto detect your phone and set the style accordingly.

y8s 03-05-2007 11:23 PM

what about windows mobile versions?

Philip 03-05-2007 11:23 PM

No clue.
if it's WAP 2.0 capable it should do it.

Philip 03-05-2007 11:42 PM

works with emulators so I assume it'll be Ok.

Loki047 03-05-2007 11:53 PM

Thank you phillip works great :)

PS. Make sure you clear your cache or refresh the pages so it shows up.

Ben, I only want the 700 for the EVO-D network or whatever (broadband speed), then Bluetooth it to my computer so I have broadband internet anywhere for 5 bucks a month :) I love old spring contracts.

Ben 03-06-2007 08:36 AM

Thank you Philip! Loads in about 25% the time and is easier to navigate.

Good call on that Loki. I have a Sprint mobile broadband card. It's $40/mo through the business account. I've used my 650 as a virtual modem for navigation, which works fine, but didn't try web access through it. I don't think I'll ever get a 700 due to the cost. I'd take another look at the MotoQ if I suddenly needed another phone.

I watch TV shows on my phone when I'm commuting on the train/subway. Company phone. Surf this forum when I'm at work. :)

You city slickers get all the toys...

TheBandit 03-15-2007 04:43 PM

I noticed it was different yesterday when I got on with my phone (Treo 650). Loaded much faster! Thanks Philip.
