Request: Flash-less Youtube

Sooooooooooooo Flash, much like Java and PDF, is a huge vector of attack and this year has finally turned the tide against Flash in general. Like there's been more 0-days than there hasn't.

I haven't installed Flash on this box (at all) and I'd like to keep it that way since HTML5 support is actually A Thing now.

Would it be possible to change the behavior of the inline Youtube tags to also just provide a clickable link? There's definitely some fuckery going on with the forum software forcing the Flash container, and I don't mind having to fetch the video id, but it's just a Nice Thing To Have from a usability standpoint.

I only complain because I care.

don't use [yt] tags.

I can't remove it now else it will break all posted videos using the old code.

The html5 player has been in use for some time now, i want to say pushing a year.

the code itself for the flash container is as simple as simple gets, 0% fuckery.

OK, can you tell Emilio to stop posting videos with the [yt] tag? Thanks in advance.

e: come on brain, do a grep on the entire forum, you know you want to :P

Braineack 11-03-2015 10:52 AM

actually i think i can make something cool happen.

hold on.

Braineack 11-03-2015 10:59 AM

aw it didn't work.

Braineack 11-03-2015 11:04 AM

there.

if you happen to still use YT tags like a noob, it does an html5 video instead of a flash one.

shuiend 11-03-2015 11:35 AM

I only use the YT tags, because I want to make you all suffer.

Look at this, MiataTurbo is now Web 2.0.

e: how is that "Best of Limp Bizkit" video longer than 0 seconds?

Braineack 11-03-2015 12:16 PM

web 2.0 lol. no.

we are still on vbulletin v3.0. this forum software is a joke compared to anything current.
