That's the problem. I can't even log in before the ads take over and render the site un-usable. I've literally never seen this site on my phone logged in because i'm unable to do so due to the ridiculous amount of ads (not all of which would be legal in the US in the first place. I don't need to buy weed on the internet).

User CP > Options > Disable Related Threads
That turns them off. I agree that they are the worst part of related threads and have it off on my settings.
We are working on scrolling into the next threads in the forum to get through "New Posts" faster or an option to customize that to add something actually beneficial.

I'll browse around logged out and look for any particularly bad ads that still exist. Curious about this internet weed as well.

I feel like some of these ideas are being generated by tossing a bunch of rubber *****, each with a word printed on it, into a pool filled with manatees, and then dumping LSD into the water.

Scrolling to the bottom of a thread should result in reaching the bottom of the thread. It shouldn't result in reaching the next thread, or the last thread, or your mother's intimate diaries, or sounding erotica, or whatever else "other forums" suggest. I've been to other forums on the Internet. They are filled with people who, if given the choice, would wear pants on their head. Stop listening to them.

So when I go to a thread that I've read before, I immediately scroll to the bottom, then scroll up a bit to find the last place I read. This is totally broken on pages that do dynamic "infinite scroll" (because there is no bottom) and thus I wind up having to scroll through from the top instead. That's way less efficient.
If I click on a thread, I want *that* thread, I don't want random other threads. I would expect that most of your site usage is by people who read it on a regular basis, not by random people without accounts who are searching for stuff and want corollary search results. The layout should be optimized for the former, not the latter.

Edit: my general usage pattern is to hit "new threads", scroll through the list for threads that I'm interested in, and load each of them in its own tab. I go to each one, read & maybe reply, then close that tab. Poof I've got the next one. "related threads" has no utility in this model.

I browse rennlist which has the scroll to next thread feature. It ends up confusing me if I'm scrolling too fast because the topic appears to randomly change for no reason.
I've never been scrolling through a thread and wanted the forum to play "feeling lucky" to choose the next content I consume.
