When is the mobile site getting fixed?

It's been broken for at least a couple of weeks. What's the deal? If it's not going to come back anytime soon, can we at least get the forum on Tapatalk?

shuiend 02-13-2012 03:15 PM

It was removed a while ago because it was having problems with posts from it showing up. As of now there is no plans on getting tapatalk working. Rick does not want to have to pay for the software across all his sites for it for a extremely small amount of users who would use it. You can search and find Ricks exact response.

What phone and browser are you trying to access the site from? I use the standard site in both Opera and Chrome on my android phones and have never seen a need for a mobile version.

Braineack 02-13-2012 03:44 PM

I will admit, the mobile verison was nice. But Sav, you and I were probably the only ones using it. When we looked at stats, there was like 0.0000001% usage from it.

bikersam717 02-13-2012 04:17 PM

I was on it at work all the time, much easier to browse on.

TorqueZombie 02-13-2012 04:53 PM

Likewise. I liked it when out with the wife I could browse what's up on a cell.

Posted from my cell.

I was on it all the time as well. I want it back! It was very easy to keep up with the new posts. Plus, my 3G sucks at work so it loaded fast on my phone. I also don't get monitored when using my phone like I do with my work internet.

Tapatalk is free.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: As a forum owner you are free to activate Tapatalk in your forum, and you are free to remove/deactivate it anytime you want to.

You must have never used the mobile version, then. It was probably 10x faster and at least 10x easier to use. It was actually easy to browse the forum from my phone (android) with the mobile site, not as good as Tapatalk but still decent. Now it's a huge pain in the ass and I won't bother.

Brainey, would you please motivate Rick to get Tapatalk going for us?

skidude 02-14-2012 08:13 AM

I don't often browse forums from my phone, but when I do, I would like a mobile version.

Try surfing www.cmoc.ca (via mobile)

if you guys can live with that, I will get it done.

TT wont happen.

He would have to at the minimum get the basic version which would be $799 per site and then he would have to implement it across all his sites. So in total he would be looking at about $15 grand to get it up and running. For the extremely small amount of mobile traffic his sites generate the ROI is not there for TapaTalk.

I had tried to mobile version a few times, unfortunately it was not notably faster on the past 2 phones I have had. Although I am on 4g and my speeds are nearly as fast as I get at home with my wired comcast connection.

That being said, I am also looking at 1 more mobile version that is way cheaper.

try www.cmoc.ca, report back your experience with the mobile.
that is free and decent.

let me know.

Time to get modern phones on that 4G, my caucasian brethren.

FRT_Fun 02-14-2012 01:31 PM

Tell your "room-mate" to man-up and get a real phone.

With speeds like 20Mb/s down it is fast enough on my phone.

Why the heck have they used a template that wide (600+??) for a thin interface.
I my case I need to zoom and scroll too much to make it useful.

The point of having a mobile version is to get the core content in a format that is not needed to zoom and scroll like crazy.

Or is just my Android browser that is unable to make the site choose a suitable width on the header bar?

In landscape format the full MT forum looks much better. But a version with half the width would be nice (have only played with phpBB3, so unsure whats possible to wish from vBullentin)

What browser are you using on Android? In Opera it does a pretty good job of resizing things to fit the screen.

Braineack 02-14-2012 02:45 PM

if you double tap the screen it resizes on mine.
