Its not about graphics. They were not that great when Fallout 3 came out. It was built to console standards of the time. This will probably be no different, graphics limited to what a PS4 or XBone can do. The game was good because of gameplay and story and an immersive environment.


But anyway. I am hyped.

There is a lot of speculation it takes place in Boston. Apparently a lot of the lore puts importance on that city.

I played the shit out of Fallout 3 and I am very familiar with Bethesda graphics. Graphics create atmosphere and atmosphere is extremely important to a game set in a nuclear wasteland, but whatevs.

You must have despised Fallout or Fallout 2 then. Their graphics were far from cutting edge when they came out.

Dear gawd you two sound like m.net people who get mad at people who want more HP in a miata. There is no detriment to better graphics. I already qualified my statement earlier by stating that I am very familiar with Bethesda graphics never being quite what they could be.

I've seen a lot of complaints on graphics with this so far. I think people on line expect it to look like those modded versions of skyrim you see that look off the wall bonkers good. Here's the thing. I'm playing 3 and NV with tale of 2 wastelands (puts 3 in the NV engine) and using a high res texture pack. Yeah its not that far behind the trailer for fallout 4, because 4 has better shadows and processing and stuff. You want to know how much disk space my 3 and NV takes up? 44GG. Yeah. So those almost real versions of skyrim you see are probably approaching 100GB on disk. You cant sell a game like that right now. Like fuck I'd have a hard time fitting that one my SSD if I off loaded pretty much anything I'm willing to off load onto my spinning drives.

I am not a PC gamer, so I am only talking about console versions. I am playing The Witcher 3 on PS4 right now and it looks outstanding. Better than a future Fallout 4, so far.

I started playing New Vegas again last night to prepare for the new game. Trying something new this time, not focusing on weapons but maximizing sneak/luck.

We'll see how far I get. I'm used to blasting everything that moves.

Personally I'm glad the graphics are potato, my 3 yr old cobbled together gaming PC might stand a chance.

I think anybody saying the graphics do not look good are paying too much attention to the pre-apocalypse sequences. Many devs rely on making things look dilapidated in order to hide the texture resolution and model polygon density. When things are overgrown with cheap to render grass and weeds models and every texture is dirty/worn/cracked that level of detail overwhelms your brain. Combine that with some DOF and filtering and maybe some crazy light glare effects and you have triple A title graphics.

If this was the kind of game in which there are constant cinematic cutscenes where you have close ups of caracters saying dramatic shit, like The Last of Us, then it would warrant making the characters super detailed. That is probably not what this game will be, its going to be be like Fallout 3/NV in which you remain in control and everything that happens is scripted.

Id say the game looks more on par with GTA 5, which is no surprise because it is also in a massive sandbox environment. Oh, and GTA 5 stresses the fuck out of my GTX 770 4GB.

I was just replaying 1 and 2. Love me some Fallout.

I am really waiting for Wasteland 2 to come to the PS4.
