Best tank shooting game i have found to date... ONLINE.
You start off with a basic tank, you get xp as you participate in pvp battles (only pvp battles - theres no pve), you research stuff such as guns and engines, then upgrade your tank, you explore new tanks with the xp you get and so forth....

Space flight.. You level a ship, get xp by doing missions, put points into a build tree which then allows you to get higher level equipment (weapons, engines etc). It's cool but the lack of players online can make it boring. No players means no raid and no pvp (it has similar battleground and raid system to the popular world of warcraft)

Installed Blacklight: Retribution last night

I played Pardus for years. It was pretty addictive. Took too much time to be competitive (ie, devs constantly adding new resource sinks, making it difficult for part-time player like me to keep pace with 13 year olds in Taiwan).

Started playing World of Tanks last night. Fun game. Still learning tactics.

Tribes: Ascend. Team Fortress 2. Those are well known, but free to play and very good.

Currently downloading APB to check it out, that space prophecy game looks awesome so I want to check that out, and that blacklight FPS game looks neat.

Hmm not enough bandwidth for all of this! Gotta go one at a time for my slow connection. Keep em comin guys.

Agreed. One of the most fun free games i've ever played. Worth a shot for sure, i call it Grand Theft Auto, the MMO.

Tried Blacklight Retribution, for some reason it keeps freezing 5 minutes after playing.. freezes my entire system. I'm guessing windows 64 bit compatibility.

It's currently in beta but looks pretty damn sexy. You will notice A LOT of similarity to the basic gameplay of TF2. These guys basically started designing the game-and had no way to make money on it, then decided to go the micro-transaction route. Then Steam/Valve made TF2 a Free To Play so it kinda put these guys in a tough place.

Another mech style shooter game, but A LOT faster with more action. (Also not out yet, see a theme here?) Been watching this one for a while and its just been getting better. I'm glad they have a solid release date on the site now! It says cinematic but there is some in-game video in there too.

Download the game from the website by clicking start. I had to download the bit torrent since the link at the gamers hell website wasn't working. It's all legal don't worry.


Install the game.

To register, do this, download this file

On your computer open up my computer and then go to organize > folder and search options. On the new tab go to view and find hide extensions for known file types. Turn it off so it shows u the file types. Now you should be able to change the name and extension of the file you just downloaded. Change it to register.exe

Double click on the "heat online" icon and it will start up and download all the updates. Then right click on the heat online icon and go to properties. Now take the file you downloaded and renamed earlier (register.exe) move it to the folder. Double click on it and the game will start up. Enter your email, enter a password (s) then click register. Then exit the game and start the game normally. The reason for this is you're using an older game file as the new update uploaded recently is glitched and the register does not work.

Anyhow i love it. It actually has real tracks similar to laguna seca it also has licenses.. it has police smashing things similar to the classic need for speed where you gotta stop the racers etc. Pretty interesting.

i just want to play words with friends with someone during the day.

Heh, i guess that's because everyone knows about it. Good point though Joe. I could never get into tf2, but its still a great f2p game that anyone looking for free games should check out.

Funny you mention this. Aside from Portal, it's just about the only game that I've gotten into over the past decade or so.

I like it because it's simple. You don't have to spend large amounts of time learning complex controls, or exploring a huge virtual world, or leveling-up your character, or any of that BS. You can just pop straight in and start playing. If you're bored and have a half hour to kill, you can jump in and play a couple of rounds.

Agreed. TF2 is a great game. I jumped onto playing it as soon as it became f2p, but immediately didn't like it because of how much different from the original team fortress (which i loved) was.

Of course now i sound like some kind of hipster gamer nerd. Play it if you like it man!

Honestly, one of the things I really love about TF2 is how much the overall gameplay style resembles the first generation LAN-based multiplayer FPS games that I loved back when in was in college, like Doom 2, Rise of the Triad, Quake, and Duke Nukem 3D. It's brutal, fast, and highly simplistic, and doesn't take itself too seriously.

I dont know if it has been mentioned by me, but for those who love battlefield FPS, cant go wrong with BF P4F, its BF2, with updated graphics and weapons. Fly jets n' shit, just like good ole BF games.




I just got a beta key to play Planetside 2, and from the time the servers where open, it was very fun. Its like BF2142, Tribes, and Red Faction all had an orgy with sony and this was the spawn child. Its going to be good if you are into the scifi FPS feel. Its one large ass map so far, and I mean LARGE.





Like most F2Ps, there are upgrades, implants and perks with in-game currency, premium payed accounts, and irl funds to online cash, like sonycash. But so far its not one of those f2ps that make it super difficult for those who dont want to spend a dime on it.


This is beta, so much can be changed, but from what I have experienced so far minus the casual glitches like most betas, its going to be a very fun game.

+1 on Firefall. E02k hooked me up with a beta invite. I haven't had much time to play it a ton or anything, but when i have played it it's a blast. Reminds me of borderlands the way you quest and it's open world, but then its a MMO and theres a ton of people, and there's crazy pvp battle maps too.

Neat. ALSO get on planetside 2 guys, the battles in that game are so epic scale.

I've been grinding the hell out of XP to spend on hardware upgrades and I've found a couple of spots that are super isolated the the bug things can't get to when thumping. Now I'm hoarding materials :D

The pvp battles you have to queue for right now, I was reading SOMEWHERE that they have open world pvp planned in the future, but for now you have to queue to pvp at the home base place.

What do you guys use for voice chat? I was running a private/local Vent server for a while but I tire of its bullshit. Any other suggestions?

I run a TS3 server for my group. It's great.

I used to use Vent but recently I've been using Skype for gaming. The only down side is there's no push-to-talk. I'm definitely interested in a Firefall/TF2 group.

There IS push to talk in skype but you gotta configure it and its kinda shitty.

Go to tools, options, then advanced, Hot keys, check enable keyboard shortcuts, check toggle mute and choose a key. Now here is the fucked up thing about it. it "opposites" whatever it is. In other words if your skype is set to normal (not mute) when you press the key it will mute it. If your skype is set to mute, when you press the key it will unmute your microphone. In other words always mute your mic via the mute button on skype so when you press the push to talk button it will "unmute it" while you hold down the key and u can moan to your buddies ears. Sometimes it glitches and the push to talk does not work. In that case you have to go to options, hotkeys and highlight the toggle thing to "remind" skype its suppose to work. Not kidding btw.
