No Idea to be honest because I have not looked at it. However, there are many ways to establish open PvP while still having the ability to form teams of players without having two distinct factions the way WoW did (i.e. guilds or the ability to form parties in game).

Dynamic events.. you're questing and you get a message "event near by" In that case theres stuff happening near by almost like a raid and everyone is welcome to it.

Guilds doesnt work well as it ends up being 2 big builds and then the rest never survive.

So how does a free for all ruin those events? People have the ability to work together if they want they do not have to kill each other. If you are implying that the fact that people could sabotage and kill other people and therefore make the events harder then I agree however that adds to the fun and challenge of it. It is simple to have the ability to cast friendly spells as well as harmful spells on others. The biggest complication I would see in this would be with AoE spells but I am sure with creativity they could work something out here. I am not a game designer but to say that the only way to do something in this way would be to have two seperate factions is stupid. That is just the easiest way.

A quick fix to your guilds getting too big argument would to put a cap on guild size.

Well i'm sure it could be fixed but stuff like that seems more like bandaids rather than fixing it. Oh well it is what it is man. If you want to pvp you go in the pvp battlegrounds.

I think my brother might get it so I will probably wait to make any final judgements on the game and decide whether I want to make the plunge. The PvP is gonna be my draw so without a traditional outdoor pvp type system I think it will be a hard sell for me. PvE level grinding becomes too daunting without some suprises in there...computers are just too predictable.

Agreed. What's this "world pvp" that GW2 has about though?

Lol, you guys are stuck in the "traditional" way of mmorpg's GW2 changes a lot, and takes it to a new level. For the better IMO.

And IIRC PvP is arena style. Meaning you have to join a specific area. I'm not much a fan of PvP so i never looked into it.

Looks like the release is 3pm eastern, as early as midnight eastern time... Ugh... Guess i should stop drinking, don't want to pass out.

World vs world battle zone.

So far the only thing i hate about this game is the lack of mounts. I mean it would totally make sense to have a giant horse or a drake in your bags.

I'm playing it right now.

But there is like an "intro" mission thing, where you have to kill some **** to get into the main game. And it's so bogged down, that it's not letting anyone in.

I can broadcast. Maybe...

Broadcasting.

I take it you got teleported after you killed that elemental thing? The people i were playing with and talking to on teamspeak got in. It was like 50% of us got in.

This over flow garbage is pissing me off. Cant play with a friend because we're in different overflows instead of on our same server. I dont get it.

Join a party with them. Then every chance you get right click them and hit "join in" or something like that. Most of the time it will transport you to their server.

It's crummy because the overflows are bit's and pieces of different servers. Making it somewhat impossible to recruit to your guild for a specific server.
