Is there anyone on here who is using N64 emulators with a PS3 controller and running to a TV via HDMI?

I read about the PS3 remotes here: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/45610...ur-windows-pc/

The rest is all a foreign language to me.

Emulators are a pretty new thing for me. I've had friends hook me up with the old style (NES,SNES,SEGA) but now I see people playing N64 emulators and Dreamcast emulators. It makes me excited.

Anyone play these regularly? Got any links to places that could get me started?

You need to download the roms for whatever games you want to play.

HDMI to the tv is easy? Just plug the cable in and select the TV in your video card settings.

I have no idea why I didn't call you :party: would have made this a lot simpler.

Thank you for the think. The question behind the HDMI was the quality of the old game blown up. Is this something that needs to be adjusted or am I just making things up to worry about?

Set the emulator's fullscreen resolution to whatever you TV's native resolution is. The polygons will be sharp, but textures will be original.

Well I did what I should have done in the first place, call Bryce, lol.

Ocarina of Time is working very well on my Dell Studio. So far I am very impressed.

Now comes the business of configuring the PS3 controller.

When running an emulator on a display with a fixed resolution higher than the native resolution of the platform being emulated, re-scaling is inherently necessary regardless of the physical interface being used to connect the computer to the display.

(Sadly, this is one area in which modern displays, such as LCD / plasma, are vastly inferior to their old CRT counterparts. A CRT monitor could adjust its scanrate to natively operate at whatever resolution was called for, simply by adjusting the timing of the deflection coils. Solid-state displays are fixed at a certain resolution defined by their pixel count, and resolutions other than the native resolution can only be approximated by re-scaling.)

So as Bryce said, just let the PC do its job and re-scale the display to the correct resolution for your TV. Doesn't matter whether the connection is component, VGA, HDMI, etc. If you really want "authenticity", use a composite or SVHS interface between the two, feeding the display with a 480i signal and forcing it to apply its NTSC rescale. This will cause the image to appear exactly as it would if you connected an actual N64 to it. (In other words, it'll look like crap and probably have increased lag.)

So, I am still having issues with the PS3 controller. Keyboard works fine for now, but I am probably going to pick up one of these Logitech PS replica controllers. Keep it simple, I guess.

Any recommendations?

Wired xbox 360 controllers will work out of the box. No drivers required.

and.....it's awesome. Very light, buttons are nice and it's setup just like a N64 controller. Also, the Emulator saves "controller configurations" so switching between platforms is cake.

I wore out the analog sticks on all my N64 controllers. They're all a bunch of floppy dicks.

I have 4 nearly brand new N64 controllers. They are see through purple. You jelly, Bryce?

Don't make me hook up my water-cooled i7 baller rig to my 60" Plasma to show you up.

I used to big on the emulation stuff. I pretty much only use them on my psp now when I am going on a long trip.

Otherwise. I have an actual SNES NES N64 Dreamcast Genesis Wii Gamecube PS2 and XBOX1 to just play my classic games.

Lately I have been considering boxing all my old stuff up and making my xbox1 an emulation machine.

Shut up. At least I have a turbo :loser:

The only systems I keep out are my PS3 and my Dreamcast. The rest have been cleaned and packed away safely.

I read that the xbox1 is a GREAT home entertainment system for movies, games, etc...when I worked at a pizza shop in high school, some of the guys and I used to bet our tips on Mario Kart 64. My friend had it on his xbox. It was awesome.
