I want a keyboard in which the switchcaps are clear plastic, such that they can be popped off, have a little pre-printed label stuck under them, and then re-attached.
I'm trying to create something conceptually similar to this:
I want a regular keyboard where the normal keys are re-legendable.
Thus far, this is the closest I've found, from Unitech:
It's perfect, except for the fact that the modifier keys, spacebar, enter, etc., are not re-legendable (minor gripe) and the fact that the "|\" key isn't above return (deal-killer, given the present keyboard layout we use.)
To be honest, $1,500 is slightly more than I'm willing to spend for a keyboard, especially given that I need two of them. And that's the price for the Popularis, which is the little one without cursor keys or a numeric pad.
One article I read suggested that the Maximus was available in a "starter" version, in which only the space bar was loaded with an OLED module, and the rest of the keys were plain re-legendable. That would be ideal, but I can't find any place to actually buy it from.
Not sure if you ever found your solution for this, but you can buy relegendable keycaps. Several different companies make them, but here's a source you might find interesting -- they offer different color keycaps with transparent lenses. These appear to be standard keycaps for Cherry MX-style key switches.
I'm only seeing 1x2 as the biggest relegendable caps. Nobody seems to make spacebars in 1x6 or 1x6.25 R1 that are relegendable. Maybe you just put a 1x2 there?
