New hardware being orderd
Already ordered SUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3
as there was a open box deal for -$70 so grabbed that today. Looking at Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz before the $20 gift care deal runs out GPUs I'm undecided. Looking at EVGA 02G-P4-2678-KR GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2GB but open for suggestions. Going to use my old ram CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) unless someone has a good reason to get something else. |
That seems like a lot of graphics card. What's the target application?
|
I think you need gtx690. Two of them.

Anyone know anything about http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162107 |
I know that it is factory overclocked at 1006MHz, which is 91MHz higher than the reference card. Also, the 1344 core GTX 670 GPU which lies at the heart of this card includes support for cutting edge features such as GPU Boost, a revolutionary technology that automatically increases GPU clock speeds to maximize performance and efficiency for each individual game and application. Additionally, up to 4 displays can be simultaneously connected across the card’s flexible assortment of outputs and, as you would expect from the latest performance Galaxy graphics cards, the GTX 670 fully support 3D Vision, PhysX, and DirectX 11.

On a more serious note, it looks like nVidia finally took my advice and developed adaptive Vsync, automatically enabling or disabling Vsync based on the GPUs actual FPS output as compared to the diplay's refresh speed. Very cool.

This is the setup I put together this summer. Same CPU, RAM, and GPU. It kills any game on the market on ultra everything. I highly recommend it. The first 670 I got was DOA, but EVGA quickly shipped me a new one. |
Also, do you already have a SSD?

Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive SSD still cost to much per GB for me. |
I got a 256gb for $200, still cheaper than 3 hdds, but less storage of course.
|
I ordered 2 2TB 3.5" Hard drives today. I also just sent my friend who works for Intel an email asking what prices he can get me on their SSD's. I think it is finally time to upgrade my main drive to one.

FUCK THE POLICE!!!
The EVGA sold out as i was waiting till today to see if i could find a deal but no deals. Ordered Galaxy 67NPH6DV5ZVX GTX 670 as they have the same clock speed but i have never really heard of Galaxy so I'm iffy on them. Instead of giving me 2 copies of AC3 on Uplay and 2 steam keys for Borderlands 2 (already have) they have me $100 off each card!!!!! Fucking buy of the years. |
Update, end up I'm not getting 200 off. The just sent me a 2nd invoice for the 4 game keys fro $200. Stay tuned to WTS borderlands 2 and Assassins creed 3.

Instead of screwing around with that, why not just get two of these? Newegg.com - EVGA 02G-P4-3664-KR GeForce GTX 660 Ti FTW Signature2 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card or these Newegg.com - PNY XLR8 VCGGTX660TXPB-C GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card w/ HDMI Cable
There's your $200 right there, and the 260Ti seems to be within spitting distance of the 270 in terms of the benchmarks. |

RMAed all but the i5
Now have. MSI N660 Ti PE 2GD5/OC GTX 660 Ti 2GB X2 MSI Z77 MPOWER LGA 1155 Intel Z77 And a free G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 2 x 4GB DDR3 1600 Along with the Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz Asked very nicely for no restock as everything is unopened and for them to cover shipping if I put all 4 video card and 1 motherboard in the same box. =D |
Looks good. The slot spacing on that motherboard should also afford for better cooling of the video cards, by allowing more space between them (assuming the SLI bridge, which you have to purchase separately and haven't mentioned ordering) will reach across four slot positions rather than the more usual three.
Any reason you chose the MSI card over the seemingly identical Gigabyte? I'm just curious- I have no opinion here. |
Glad you changed your mind on the 670 FTW, its nothing but a gimmick. You can safely overclock a standard EVGA 670 to that clock speed with 100% stability; since thats all they really have done; but with fancier wording.
The dual 660ti's are going to be sweet, if I had space in my case or a PCie x1 wifi card (I have 3 PCIe x16 slots, one at the very bottom where it would hit the case and starve; and one that blocks the only standard PCI slot I have), I would have gotten dual 660s; the 192bit is kinda an issue for higher resolutions, but i'd like to think that an SLI setup would make up for the bitrate. |
