I made gold 3v3 the other night as well. I can tell a difference in my opponents skill.

But I've been picking up strats off them. Like mass marines/medivacs. I'm 3 for 3 on that strat, two 3v3's and one 1v1 lol.

Took out some medium ai with no help from brain!

lol

RavynX 08-13-2010 01:07 PM

I haven't done the league stuff yet but I've been playing 2v2 AI with a co-worker online. No issues beating them on Medium but Hard is a different story.

Oh and I'm ravynx@gmail.com Can anyone connect to the vent server or just clan members?

flier129 08-13-2010 02:07 PM

Yeah lets start a clan! The suffix will be [MT] :giggle:

Thinking about clans brings up fond memories. Like spammer bots that would flood rivalry clans lol.

PM Rick for the vent info.

I need a new video card for sure. The on-board BS in this computer isn't handling starcraft 2 all that well. Anyone care to share some knowledge of modest priced video cards that will handle SC2?

Nagase 08-13-2010 06:04 PM

You can get a used 9800GT for about 50$, works great for me. New is 80$.

Depends on what you consider modest. Would suggest something in the 2xx series of GeForce, but that might be more than your opinion on what modest is.

Definitely sub $100. More than 100 bucks will buy me a lot of things i'd rather have for my car or credit card payments that i'd much rather make lol.

RavynX 08-13-2010 06:44 PM

I'm running an eVGA 8800 GTS 640MB and it's great. I'd probably pick up the 9800GT that others have suggested.

Nagase 08-13-2010 07:12 PM

Here's a good option to go newer:

http://www.google.com/products/catal...CA0Q8wIwATgA#p

90$ shipped, a generation newer, not going to be much faster than the 9800 though.

jeff_man 08-13-2010 08:17 PM

about to swing by quake con and see what's going on on my way home. maybe play some games on my laptop.

longuyen88 08-14-2010 12:27 AM

Get an Nvidia Geforce 240gt. That's what I am getting.

A 240GT would be slower than a 9800GT....

But it will still play SC2 fine. :)

Ohhhh, I need to drive up to Quake Con!

Yeah, but it's inefficient to go with a more expensive model that is slower.

Bryce 08-14-2010 01:31 AM

I see what you did there. Definitely the 9800 GT.

jeff_man 08-14-2010 04:29 AM

i have a 360gts in my laptop and it's faster then the 9800 gts in my 1.5 year old laptop.

I think you're comparing apples to oranges. A laptop GTS360M would be the equivalent to a desktop GT240. The laptop 9800m GTS is equivalent to a desktop 8800 GTS. My laptop GTX 280M is equivalent to a desktop 9800 GTX. Shit, this is confusing.

I've got a laptop with a 9800M GTS, and it will play fine at 1080P. I also have a laptop with a GTX280M, and it will play at ultra settings at 900P, but I turn it down to medium if I'm playing some of the custom, unit-spamming maps.

The Home Theater PC I built for my GF's family will even play it at 60fps with medium-low settings at 900P with a $40 HD 4350.

So basically, if you've got a discrete graphics card that was released in the last 4 years, you can probably play SC2 fine.

Nagase 08-14-2010 04:52 AM

C'mon... the GeForce 3xx series is two generations and two years newer than the 9xxx series. Of course it'll be faster, computers tend to do that over two years. :)

I need a card that works with my stock 300w psu. The 9800 will not work.

Nagase 08-14-2010 06:59 PM

Lol, 300w.
