1.6 mk1 idle speed valve
Evening all, discovered today that my idle speed control valve has nuked itself
Has anyone blocked it off and ran it without? |
Yes. 1.6s have a second coolant based valve on the side of the intake manifold, so tune the bypass valve until it’s livable when cold and hot, and if I recall correctly, it’s not the worst idle once you’re done.

I blanked the isv on my '91 1.6L car. also removed the 'thermo-valve' from the inlet manifold & made a blanking-plate... first ~min after cold start needed some throttle-pedal covering but after that idle was stable. gone with itb' so had to use old photos. Revisting this issue with an update.
Got a replacement Idle speed control valve ( the one below throttle body) and it made no real difference. Pissing about in settings on the Speeduino, under idle control I changed the Idle Valve Direction to reversed. And this seems to have solved the issue! |
