I'm also curious about going to a bigger master while doing the 1.8 swap. I've read that a few guys have gone with a 626 master. Any comments or experiences?

This format worked great for honda brake upgrades to larger oem stuff...

k, took about 15min for the first wheel to swap everything. Will have the rest done tomorrow and documented to add to the FAQ. I'm surprised how much larger the front pads are comparatively...

Are you also doing the master or prop valve? I'm going to do the 1.8 brakes soon, and probably also the 94-97 non abs prop valve at the same time.

What're you doing with your old 1.6l calipers? My driver's rear is leaking bad and I need to get a replacement.

You reuse the calipers on the swap.

On a side note: As many of you ABS owners know the pedal feel sucks compared to non-ABS miatas. My unit traps old fluid and air. When you are going to bleed your system and the car is on stands & tires off, put (1) lugnut on each rear wheel to tighten the rotor down. Start the car, take off the brake and give it some gas and let her spin. Hit the brakes and you'll activate the ABS like crazy. That should help get rid of any stored bubbles/fluid. You should probably do it again once you've done your first inital bleed.

Just finished bedding the pads in and I'm letting them cool off. Talk about an improvement. They've never felt so responsive and forceful. Even with similar pads on the 1.6 sized rotors they never stopped this good. I'm very happy with the upgrade. Can't wait till my next trackday.
