1.6l vs 1.8l Turbo differences

God knows how many times this question has popped up but!

Stats; numbers is what I want. Does anyone have any figures showing the differences between the two engines when turboed? HP, spool time etc etc

Would be a huge help, thanks :)

search. many threads for you to read.

The 1.8 spools faster and makes more power at any given rpm. I do recall seeing someone compare similar setups and the 1.8 made a lot more torque a lot sooner and an extra 20ish HP at redline.

n00bs to be less retarded and lazy....is all I really want

I've tried looking around, on various other forums/websites too. Having a comparison with numbers makes everything so much nicer to see. Anyone have a link?

yep, here you go:

1.6 vs 1.8 all da numbazz

Good comparison I like to refer to

We got a couple of jokers here... You two make quite the pair!
Since you both seem to know everything, find me a data sheet comparing stats of the 1.6 v 1.8 when turboed. Because it seems to be very hard to come by...

18psi 04-04-2017 09:16 PM

infracting for retardation

I mean it makes more power up top above 6400rpms. Which I am more sure has to do with me running a nice eBay MBC and not having a great tune when I did that 1.8 dyno.

18psi 04-05-2017 10:49 AM

the 2hp for 20rpm up top? you're right, that right there would win the race :D

we're also forgetting the most important part: the 1.6 revs like a superbike

i too, also like a cam that can't spool a turbo so you get the seat of pants rush late in revs, and then can't make top-end due to other restrictions!

What did you find to have the biggest restrictions for top end power on the 1.6? I see a lot of references to your older 1.6 T3 build, but never have much luck finding old posts regarding your setup.

That image compares the NA 1.8L (BP5A) to the NB1 1.8L (BP4W).

The 1.6 is considerably worse than the BP5A.
