1.6open to 1.6vlsd
I tried searching this site, mnet, and google, but I cant get any help, but I would like to know what is involved with swapping a 1.6 open diff with a 1.6vlsd.
IE: What, other than the diffs themselves, I would require (read of the VLSD having their own gears on the diff spotters guide, but not sure of the compatability) |
nothing. as far as i know
why waste money? unless your's is blown just save and get a torsen |
Just the differential and the half shaft.

In case no one had let you know, the 1.6 LSD isn't any stronger than the open version.

Its a temp fix, I can't afford to drop 800 bux on a torsen, but I can baby a used VLSD until I can. So I understand I just need the vlsd halfshaft and the diff itself? And I can reuse everything else on the 1.6 open diff'd transfer car? |

Heck, I dropped a hole 1.8 rearend, control arms, axles and all in 1 1/2hrs. The first time I did it. It is way simple. |
You don't even need the half-shafts. The stub shafts are different on the VLSD, but assuming you get those with the diff, your existing half-shafts will bolt right up to them. Propshaft is identical as well.

You need an assembly? I've got the half shafts and entire vlsd.
