1.8 brake upgrade install problems
 

Alright guys, Ive gone through braineaks brake upgrade instructions and fuck im already stuck and I havent even done SHIT yet. I took the bottom bolt off (the one covered with the dust cap) like instructed but how the fuck do u guys swing the caliper up? Am i missing something here? or is my shit like rusted or something? The caliper will not even move an inch. BTW this is the left rear rotor.

I did a brake job on my 350z but the caliper flew up in 2 seconds and had the pads out and changed out in about 15 minutes. Any suggestions?

remove the 12mm bolt on the back of the caliper and use the allen wrench to open the claipers up a bit....


oh wait, take off the parking brake....then just smack it up a bit....

i just put wd40 and waited 10 minutes and tried again and it worked like a charm... the thing swinged out like no 2mmorow. I will continue with the brake job but will definetely have more questions 2mmorow on bleeding it the correct way because i bought stainless lines muahaha lol

alright guys UPDATE...i didnt want to make a whole new thread for this..... I have finally had the chance to do the brakes. I have the 2 fronts and the left rear COMPLETED with my stainless lines and everything. and the right rear caliper will not fit over the pads. WTF am i doing wrong? Caliper seems to be pushed in all the way but it just wont go back and sit flush like the left rear one. I even bought another caliper and the same shit happens again.I pull the piston back with the allen wrench. Any help appreciated

take a c-clamp to the piston and push it in manually. Rotating the allen wrench will only push it out so far.

couple of friends of mine told me that too. We tried it and were still unsuccessful. The piston will not budge

so what this means is my stock caliper was "frozen" and even my other one i picked up from a junky car is frozen too? Easily the worst luck dude. POS wont even break. my C-clamps rod at the end is BENT but the POS piston wont go back lol

make sure that allen bolt is all the way out, and that you've got the pads seated correctly and fully.

there should be two bolts holding the caliper together. take them out, put your hand over the piston, and blow compressed air into the hole that the banjo bolt goes into. better yet put a rag in your hand, then put it over the piston, then blow the air.

this will blow the piston out and you can clean it out. if you're careful with everything, you shouldn't need any new seals or o-rings.
