1.8 pump in 1.6
will a 94-97 fuel pump assembly drop into a 90-93? I have my new 190hp with 94-97 kit. Putting it into my 93, but i was thinking instead of doing the modifications to make it work on the 1.6 assembly, just pick up a used 1.8 assembly so i can just swap em and keep my 1.6 setup.

yes it will why keep 1.6 assembly nostalgia?

good to know, i'll only bother if i can find one cheap plus there's nothing wrong with it and since i'll be doing it in my garage the faster i can do the swap the better so my house doesn't stink like gas. i'd like to get it done before i bring the car out from winter hibernation

it will fit, but your gas gauge will be off. the 1.8 assembly is slightly different due to the larger tank that came with the larger motor

it takes a minute to cut the bell after the pump assembly is out the most time is in getting the carpet up and loosening the panel the rest is very quick. i can swap mine in less than 10 minutes and take my time doin it.

1.8 had a bigger tank? never knew that

2 gallons bigger I think
anyway, putting a new pump into the 1.6 assembly is not hard at all. toughest part will be getting the phillips screw out of the bottom bracket. i don't think it's possible without an impact driver. one of those trim clip tools will help get the carpet clips off without breaking them. i used a screwdriver and pliers and broke a couple :dunno: |
