10 psi no knob in controller
Is it bad when you take the manual boost controller knob out because the spring fell out of it and run it without one in for a day and set at 10pounds at the west gate, whats the GOOD vs BAD?

This post is OKAY by me.

What you typed:
Is it bad when you take the manual boost controller knob out because the spring fell out of it and run it without one in for a day and set at 10pounds at the west gate, whats the GOOD vs BAD? What you should have typed: I took the MBC knob out because the spring fell out, is this bad? no, you're now just running off the waste gate. You could completely remove it by adding a longer piece of vacuum line between the compressor housing and wastegate, but a gutted MBC will do no harm. Just be sure to check your WB readings on the gauge which I'm sure you don't have. |
WHAT ARE your Afr's???????
Listen for knock. post for someone bipes settings that are running 10psi. Or contact Stephanie. If you feel or hear any stubbling, or thumping sounds, let out! When in doubt, let out! Watch your oil gauge sometimes now that you have just turned it up. If it flutters around, let out. your geting knock. ___________________________________________ Did going from 5psi to 10psi fullfill your fantacy's? Now find your friends mustang. LOL I forgot to mail the extra spring and ball today. I've been sick, working, busy, and taking a ALCS coarse this week. I'll try to get it out tommorrow or Sat.. Post up some pics. |
ok will post pics, 10psi feels like an airplane at takeoff, afr's are 10.5 to 11.8 in full boost and I never seen i go above 12 afr in full boost, Im addicted to boost now!!!:laugh:

12 in full boost is really pushing it. Are you running 91 or 93 octane?
|
Don't think it's a problem, but the last time I did some datalogs (replaced WBO2) I was seeing 11.5-11.8 AFRs :dunno:
|
How high were you when typing this garbage?
|
Im running 93 only...

Remember you can get a good bit out of that rear end with a little empathy. But if you dump on it, and get wheel hop. You are own borrowed time.
If your run across a 1.8L rearend cheap, pick it up. But if you show yours some empathy, you should have time to find a cheap one. Or the 1.6L's are dirt cheap if it did blow, which one day it will. But don't live in fear, enjoy the car. If it did unexpectedly blow. i got a cheap hook up. Actually you have miata kings number. Mine lasted a year around 12-14 psi with little empathy on take off and between gears. |
Why is my car boosting 12psi on the North gate then?

Do you have a internal or external wastegate? A boost controller or no boost controller? If no boost controller and an internal wastegate. Loosen the arm if you want lower boost. |
