Question How are these turbos?

I am in the market for a GT25 series turbo, was lookin at different sites, but noticed prices range from 300 to over a 1000 dollars. Does anyone have any experience with ebay turbos or even turbos from SSAutochrome site? Anyone know where I can get a decent turbo for the price?

If you want a T25 cheap then look at the ones off a SR20DET. They are journal bearing and are pretty popular.

T3, then look at a T3 super 60

Want to spend more then get a ball bearing GT2554 or GT2560

a china charger, or does anyone know what it is or have used it? This second one looks better and actually has a tag on it? Which is what or are they both junk?

Those are both Chinachargers.
Hint, T2/T25/T28/GT25/GT28 etc are made by Garrett. If it doesn't say "actual Garrett turbo" somewhere in the ad, and they show photos of Garrett stampings and give a Garrett part number, then it's a Chinacharger.

If you're in the market for a Turbo with a standard T2 flanged turbine housing and want the best turbo for the least money, purchase a used .80/.64 T25 from an SR20det JDM motor. You can find them any day of the week in the classified ads of any Nissan forum. My favorite is SR20forum.com. Be advised that since those particular turbos came on transverse mounted FWD cars, the wastegate actuator will not line up once you've clocked it for Miata use... and will require you to fab a bracket (lotsa people have done this, no big deal) or purchase a new wategate actuator with an adjustable bracket (which might not be a bad idea either).

You can pick up T25's for as little as $50 -$100 for units in need of a rebuild. GPOPSHOP sells rebuild kits for $75 and the job is easy to do. For good condition units, expect $150-$200.

I recommend purchasing a cheaper in-need-of-rebuild one and rebuilding it making it essentially new... and should last 100k+miles.

I've seen good condition smaller GT25/28 turbo's sold in the $500's, but not very often. The only USDM car I know of that came standard with an actuall Garrett GT BB turbo is the Mazdaspeed Protege with a GT2554r... a very popular unit for Miatas.

Don't buy a ball bearing china charger.. you are asking for trouble. Get a SR20 t25.. I just sold mine for 50 shipped...point being they are not expensive. You can probably pick up a 2554 for a reasonable price and have the piece of mind of knowing that it was made by garrett and not some inferior manufacturer.
