16g lock ring
Anyone have any tips for getting the outer snap ring back into place on a 16g?
I just rebuilt mine and cant get it back on. I used snap ring pliers but they dont stretch far enough to pull it back in. So I took them off the handle and made my own handle..now they just keep slipping off when I get within reach. Anyone have a great way of putting this thing back on? |
My attempts were futile as well. I used some long, needle-nosed 90° pliers with the tips ground down to fit the snap ring holes. Squeezed like hell, and just kept springing back or not quite lining up. When I finally got it in the groove, the tip of the pliers busted off.
So, maybe use a bigger tool. Something that fits better in the holes. Lots of patience. |
i hate those snap rings but your best bet would be with a set of 90 degrees pliers and a set of small flat head screw drivers to help guide in the snap ring!!!

I got some huge ass needle nose plyers from Harbor Freight with a 90 degree bent. Modified the ends with a dremel (narrow the diameter and add a slight 'hook'. Best turbo snap ring pliers evar. They work like magic.

The hook is the key. Otherwise you're just as bad off as using the shitty snap ring pliers that fall to pieces when they see a turbo snapring. It's all about the hook.

I squeze and my dad makes sure it goes into the groove a good clamp helps it seat fully as well.

BIG 90 degree pliers Grind a Hook into them And then double team for ultra slickness thanks for the tips ill try that |
