16X7's tire sizes?

What are the pro's and cons of 205/50 vs. 205/45 vs. 205/40 for a stock bodied, non lowered 90 model using Team Dynamics PR 1.2's with a 38mm offset?

Thanks,

dluney

i wouldnt go with a 50wall, i run 205/40-16, but you'll be ok with 45's if your not lowered
a 50 wall is good with 15's, not 16's

what kind of power?
205/40/16 for up to about 200whp
215/40/16 for up to about 280whp
225/35/16 for north of 280whp

I don't think I've ever seen that before??

15's will probably handle better, and tires are exponentially cheaper.

16s wont hurt though man.

I ran a 205/40 for a while and liked it.

Another question; how wide a tire will a 7" wheel allow you to run? I ask because I'm currently using 205/45-16 all around and I'm seriously thinking about trying the 225s in the rear with the 7" wheels I have in my car now. Can those wheels handle those tires?

Thanks

215 is best but 225 will work. It'll budge out slightly with a 225 on a 7" wheel.

Thanks to all! I am going 16inch cause I got a deep deal by buying multiple sets when my wheel distributor closed out the Team Dynamics. This is my daily beater, still bone stock and 170K on the clock. I just got a 62K mile 1999 LS 5 speed that will get the real $$ and attention.

get falken new 452 215 40 16 i have them on my 16x7 and they are the best tire for the price way better then the toyo t1r.

I run 225/45/16's on one of my 94's and I have no rubbing. The bigger diameter is great for making the gearing a lil taller. Those are on 16x7 SSR Comps and the tires fit the width of the rim great.

locomonkeyboricua 09-07-2008 11:49 PM

i think the best tire for the price is the falken 452. i have the 215/40/16 on a 16x7 rim and they are the best tire i have ever had on the car. they hold the road great, once warm they stick like glue and have a 300 tread wear. my old 451 held up all the abuse i gave them. i have 200whp and drive them like i stole it. this is my daily driver and i cant ask for anything better.

miatamania 09-08-2008 11:57 AM

I've got the same tire on my 16x7.5s...cheap and they rape the Toyo of the same category.

wider tire = more grip.

also, 225/35 instead of 225/40 because 40% of 225s is a bit too tall of a sidewall.
