Generally not a domestic car guy but this looks fantastic

You forgot to mention curb weight, which is 3500+lbs. So it's a heavy bitch too.
I've seen so damn many of them and even ridden in a 2.3l one. They're okay. It's still a "me too" car. |
Weight is basically the same as the 2014, but more power for both V6 and V8 (less the gt500), more options, and when I look at it, I can kind of see how they pulled some lines from the new Mazda 6 which I love.
My friend and his dad co-own a 2014 GT500 and it's ROWDY! I want to give it a run with my MSM but I don't think I have a chance |
Went and sat in one the other day. The interior is much improved on the previous car, but the front end just looks out of proportion to the rest of the car. Rear and rear/quarter looks fantastic. The coming GT350 has a different front end that looks much better.
And it's a porker, though still lighter than Camaro and Charger. It just amazes me how heavy pony cars have become. The '89 LX I bought brand new was 3150... |
Adding 350lbs for 20+ years of refinement, technology, quietness, and safety, is really not bad IMO. GT350 looks sweet! Lights are a bit slimmer I think

It looks very Pantera like...I don't dig it.
|
I cant wait to see how the final gt350 ends up... Looks/sounds incredible. I'm a fan of the new body also and I think its awesome that they finally updated the suspension. It finally does more than just go fast in a straight line haha
|
It looks pretty good but needs some type of rear spoiler.

Sorry, can't link the pics directly from work computer. |
The front looks 90% the same as my fusion, which doesn't seem to fully fit the car. I do like the fast back-ish look though. I saw the other day they have the ecoboost i4 as an option which surprised me. That model gets the 4 or 6 piston breaks just like the 5.0 too.
|
I think it looks alright, Im glad it got IRS, and I like the 4 cylinder turbo option... but its still heavy as shit.
Id rather have new Miata. |

I get that, but it hasn't really happened with the Miata, or the Corvette, for example. I think if they thought the market in general actually cared, they could do it. Hell, the new F150 is aluminum bodied, but the new Mustang gained weight.
1989 Miata was 2070lbs / NB weighs 2348Lbs / NC weighs 2542 |
And the ND is supposed to be back to ~2200lbs.
BTW, my '92 weighs 2270, but has a roll bar, AC/PS/PW. I think the 2070 must be a dry weight for a base car. Point was that Miata has fluctuated within a couple hundred pounds, but the Mustang has ballooned almost a thousand. |
Like the front end, looks better to me upon every new iteration, continue to hate the backs. Too high/round in the back, and haven't been a fan ever since the rears from the first year that they reintroduced the Mustang.

Corvette has it's weight under control for sure but with the Miata, you sure?

Setting the weight factor aside, it's going to handle better than any previous Mustang just because they FINALLY switched to a independent rear suspension. I haven't personally driven one but from what I hear the handling is superb (as far as Mustangs go that is).

Ford racing had this one at pri with a big blower on it, the camaro had some nicer things like rear end cooler and functional front brake ducts

If this does weigh like 3500lbs, 430/400 is still a shit load of power. Ls1 camaros made what, 330hp? And they had to weigh like 3,300lbs.
