3" Exhaust Tips

So, I made a 3" DP-back exhaust recently. At the moment it just has a piece of the SS tube on the end, slightly polished. I purchased a Dual Wall 4" Outlet Tip thinking it would look ok, but it's just too big for my taste. I've tried to find a 3" inlet Dual Wall Tip with a 3.5" Outlet without any angle cut (or minimal say 15* or less) with no luck. Due to this I've broadened my horizons and am considering Dual 2.5-3.0" Dual Wall tips. Even after broadening, I haven't really been able to find that either..

You guys have any good sources for such an item?

Also feel free to post a pic of your setup!

Here are a few pics to give you an idea of what I'm working with.

Looks good. After i finished my exhaust build i couldnt find any 3" tips at the auto parts stores so i just cut some aluminized mild steel and had it protrude out maybe an inch. Stealth mode minus turbo + BOV

gibson makes some 3" in/3.5" out stainless tips. they're kinda long but can be cut down.

I actually went with a truck tip for my 3 inch exhaust. Goes to 3 1/2 but isn't double walled. I had to cut it down about an inch to be a better fit at the bumper cover.

35104 - 3.5" Tip - 35104

They have a 3 inch too.

Thanks guys.
fmwory - I remember seeing that before. I may end up just getting that. It seems that finding that size in dual wall is damn near impossible. Do you have a pic of yours?

Thanks

Tip is currently off the car because I'll probably pull the rear section of the exhaust to do a bit of clean up welding, but I can probably put it on temporarily with a clamp and get pics tomorrow.

After going over to Performance Peddler again, I might actually go with this one. MAGNAFLOW STAINLESS STEEL TIP 35206
I originally thought it was way too much angle, but once I actually opened the image in another window it doesn't look bad. I still wish it was straight cut though..

ohhh, that is pretty. but the price is not cheap.

TonyV 06-30-2009 10:24 PM

Yea I was looking at it thinking, hmm, maybe not bad for my car....till I saw the price.
$80 for a tip, daaaam. I currently just have my exhaust prutuding out a lil and will prob leave it like that now, lol

i just left my old turbo car with muffler piping coming out. I liked it better than exhaust tips

TheBandit 07-01-2009 04:21 PM

I called to check on pricing today. The single wall tip is 35.71 and the dual wall is 61.79. Still kinda on the fence. Hopefully get time to make a decision soon. I'll let you guys know. Also need to get material for my new mani build in.. So much time so few things to do. Wait.. Reverse that.

checkout amazon.com, that's where I got mine. Sounds crazy but I got a nice SS polished for cheap

skidude 07-02-2009 07:39 AM

What is the benefit to dual wall? Sometimes I think it looks a little better but I don't know as I would pay double for it.

TheBandit 07-09-2009 09:37 PM

Just looks for me... So I finally got the dual wall tip in and it has way to much angle cut on it. I'm going to send it back. I can't believe there are no 3"in/3.5out dual wall tips out there that don't look like they belong on an 85 chevy pickup.. I hate to do it, but I think I'm gonna just have to get a single wall and cut it shorter.

I have a 3.5" slash cut and I really like it. The angle kind of matches the bumper. Mine is single-wall though.

Doppelgänger 07-10-2009 08:57 AM

Beveled edge tip FTW! I just got my 3" put on, but Jason @ Enthuza didn't have the tip I wanted in stock in 3"..so I just have raw pipe in place right now. I did take some black paint to it to hide it a bit... and it's kinda growing on me, but I know i'd be happier with a nice low-profile tip. This is what i'm going for...

(obviously the flare on mine won't be so much as this tip is 2.5" to 3.25", but the endge of the tip is the style i'm talking about)

Check out Enthuza Car, Inc. , Jason sells some tips over there...

TheBandit 07-10-2009 11:51 AM

Well I went ahead and ordered the other single wall tip and will be returning the dual wall. A little angle cut is ok, but 30* is just too much. We'll see how I like this one. Would much prefer a dwt, but I'm not going to neck back down to 2.5" to make it work. I guess I can't have it all..
