What is that, a zip tie? You need clamps bro :slap:

pschmidt 11-26-2007 04:20 PM

Can you fit T-bolt clamps in there? It shouldn't cost more than $10 for two.

patsmx5 11-26-2007 04:21 PM

clamp it. Hose clamps will work.

Sorry guys I should have been more specific. The black pipe keeps coming off of the turbo. I have a TDR clamp on there torqued down alot and it still seems to slide off.

oh, well still get some t-bolts

Just go to an autoparts store and get a large hose clamp... the worm-type will work fine as there's really no pressure there. I'm actually surprised your zip-tie isn't good enough.

Ben 11-26-2007 04:26 PM

Doesn't look like the inner clamp gets a good bite on the compressor inlet.

Try spraying a little hairspray on the coupler, and see if you can get a lower profile clamp that fits in there better, and crank it tight with a wrench or ratchet (not a screwdriver).

Or maybe you can run that flexi-shit all the way to the comp inlet, and eliminate the main problem of gravity pulling that heavy ass black pipe away from the comp inlet.

Is there a lip on the black pipe? If not you need to weld a bead around it and that will give the hose clamp something to hold onto.

levnubhin 11-26-2007 04:29 PM

To be more clear, it keeps coming of where i circled.

Is this still your current setup:

You mean the intake pipe is falling off the turbo or the red-plastic hose is falling off the pipe.

The pipe should be held on with a clamp... if it's a worm clamp, you need to upgrade to a T-bolt. If it's the red-plastic falling off, just get a cheap worm-clamp. There's really no pressure in there, so it's not "blowing" off... just weight and vibration causing it to come off.

You would also do pretty good to cut a hole in your firewall near the filter... get some DIY Randall Cowl action in there for some lower intake temps.

Hey Ben, im gonna try hairspray like you suggested. Other wise im just gonna have to run that red crappy hose to the turbo.
