AC Belt? (with no powersteering)

Well I'm not sure why I never though of it but when removing my powersteering pump never gave a second thought of it being the tensioner or accessory which had belt tension adjustment. Anyone know of a way to add a belt to just the a/c compressor? Also which belt to use when doing so.

It's 92 degrees outside and really feels like 110 with humidity here in florida and just sucks. Haven't used my a/c in forever but would like to now....freakin' a man!

When there is not power steering on the car there is another bracket w/ tensioner that bolts where the PS bracket did. I picked it up for close to $100 at the Mazda dealer. PN: BP01-15-930 I think. That is what is written on my note from 6 months ago anyways.

Go to the garage section of Miata.net and look at the Parts Index for your year model. Would be a lot cheaper to find it in a junk yard once you know what it looks like.

call trussville mazda or finishline performance... either one can have it on you doorstep in about 5 days and the total cost including belt (when I bought mine from trussville) was around $90 shipped. Cost may have increased do to the season.

Not at all, wish I would've removed it sooner.

Have had 2 with, 1 without. Prefer without.

Removing PS really helps you know when your tire pressures are getting low. Don't ask me how I know.

I can feel any over 1psi differential front/rear or side/side. It's great.

The car is also a lot more stable/easier to control when when driving slideways.

Lot more control and feedback

It can be a pain in the ass in tight parking lots/driveways/parallel parking, but never too bad. I don't regret removing my ps.

I don't regret removing my power steering. IMO it feels much better without. Cleans up the engine bay quite a bit too.

If you are going to remove it, I found a non-ps rack or even a de-powered rack much better than the stock rack without the belt and pump.

Although, it wasn't for me. Driving around last summer, with no blower and no PS belt sucked.....

I think the instructions to de-power the rack are on the FM site.... Use those in conjunction with the Non-PS Idler, and you should be good to go.

For ~$90-100, I think I may try that...once I get my other issues sorted out. After all these years, I'm surprised I never tried it by just running w/o the AC/PS belt.

I got my Non-PS idler off the m.net wtb section for $25.

Must be nice. I've been trying and trying to get one off of there and other Miata related forums, but no one seems to have one to sell.
Rosenthal has it listed on their site for $99.95: http://www.finishlineperformance.com...n&key=MIAD1042

Here you go. Package it with some other needed parts for free shipping if you like.
