It's hosed. (crank at least)

If the mains look fine... just get another crank. But that looks like some oil starvation or something similar, since it is on all the rod ends... so rest is probably hurt.

that's what I was thinking. this looks like you might not get anything other than a shortblock out of it. a shortblock that needs machining.

is that your bottom end? If you look up the bores in the pics, the rods look pretty smashed to me.

that's pretty nasty. I don't know how much they can machine the crank down and still stay in spec... but if that's salvageable it's going to be a ---- hair away from out of spec.

if you were mcguyver you would take a car battery and some wire and weld the rods back together, then throw some chewing gum on the crank, and it would be good to go.

On the advice of the above members, I disassembled the rest of the short block. The only damage that is not directly replaceable(piston, connecting rod, oiler) is at the one bearing that spun and locked, doing the damage to the crank and connecting rod.

The rest of the journals and bearings are pristine, so if no one buys it, I will rebuild the bottom end.

Does anyone have a link to connecting rod bearing sizes so I can see if there is enough meat left on the one position to turn the crank? Haven't rebuilt a motor since I was a kid and did my mothers straight 8 Buick.
