Alright so, my miata AFR Gauge(AEM) sarted acting up latley, it would sometimes show a reading for 15 seconds then just go to "-------" i connected to tuner studio and the afr reading was at 18! It also starts sputter at about 3k+ rpms.
Note: the car was tuned at about 4000ft elevation but i live at about sea level, could that be the problem?

the problem could be the AFR is correct and you have no fuel.
|
replace sensor? calibrate?
tuned @4k lives at 0 MASL wont this cause the ERGO to be working in overdrive and possible not able to keep up with conditions? |
I deleted your other thread. Please don't cross post this dumb question all over the forum. You've already come off annoying with such a dumb brodozer name and first post, no context, no real info, and basically treating this place like facebook.
is the car actually running out of fuel? that's the first (logical) question |

This is my old car. Never had this issue personally, instructed him to make a post here so hopefully we can figure out if it is the elevation, gauge, sensor or some other thing.
I told him to do a log of the car so we can see if anything in the tune is weird. |
Oh this is your car?
Well your car was running perfect when I tuned it. is it doing this at full throttle/boost? if so, it needs to be fixed asap before you blow it up. op needs to post a log, or at least describe what happened with MUCH more info and context. I still don't know exactly what the situation/issue is *edit: if the only thing that changed is altitude, I'd also check your barometric correction to see if it's a set value or set to dual barometric correction or initial map reading, because unless you have dual baro, the whole tune will be thrown off really bad by such a big altitude change |

okay so I came home went to do a log for you guys, first time it started fine took about 3 sec to crank over and start, i did the log, shut the car off and let it sit for a min, i tried to start the car again and it took about 15 seconds to finally start! started smelling a gas odor, so i immediately poped the hood and looked whats going on. Saw this. Oil coming from somewhere, I Took a spark plug out it was dry so then its gotta be the valve cover gasket. but could a leaky valve cover be the problem of the car struggling to start and sputtering and afr Gauge not giving me a reading?
I attached the log as well if needed , only thing i didn't do yet is check the BARO.https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d135333b79.jpg |
Oil leaks outside the engine won't cause that problem.
|
Symptoms are not that of elevation change if the wideband is displaying anything remotely resembling accurate. 4000' isn't enough to make the car run drastically different, and it would actually be rich, since it's going from higher to sea level.

When you plugged your laptop into the ecu did you save the tune onto the laptop or flash it off with a basemap?

Okay so I got a new o2 and now afr shows me correct readings, while im driving it shows me a 13-16 afr so it's quite lean, also idles quite high (1800-2100rpms) for a minute then goes down to normal.
|
That sounds fine, looking for 11-12 in boost, 13-16 out is perfect, might need minor idle PID adjustments.
Read the mega manual for CL idle tuning. |
