agx's or bilstein, which are better?
just curious what you guys think, someone pm'd me this question earlier and thought I would ask for them.

bilstein...better by lightyears. They last longer, and are easily rebuildable by any dirtbike shop, and there's a ton of development support from bilstein, and at the grassroots level. They may not be adjustable, but you still have ride height, sway bars, alignment, and tire pressures to adjust if you need to tweek handling on a race track.
|
I went with the AGX's because I got the whole set new for $150. I keep them on full stiff with FM old springs. The ride is low, so I have to go around speed bumps, but I think the qualiity is pretty good. Sure I can feel bumps in the road more initially, but the springs match them so well that there is no bounciness at all. Great overall ride IMO. Handles like a go-cart with very little role.
Now to get some sways and better rubber. |
Bilsteins FTW.
They're not "adjustable" per se, but since they are rebuildable they are easily customizable. Check out http://www.fatcatmotorsports.com/ I've met the owner, Shaikh, a few times and he's a tremendously knowledgable fellow when it comes to suspension dynamics. He also happens to be a decent autocrosser, so he drives what he builds. Anyways, one of the services that he provides is a teardown and custom re-valve of bilstein shocks, to your specifications. Forget about adjusting knobs- that man has a shock dyno and the knowledge to put it to good use. |
And because of that knowledge, he has recently slowed his posting at m.net because of skeptical idiots who attack him.
|
Which is ridiculous and another reason why he should spend more time over here. He spends time posting factual data on suspension, not just ideas or biased opinion but data he has taken using the the most common aftermarket suspension components for the miata and spring dyno. Then they call him a witch and and vote to burn him at the stake.
|
Spot on.
|
I've known shaikh for years and he's definitely not a witch. he's pretty low key and thorough. and definitely doing his homework on the suspension stuff. he and jason c grabbed all they could find in stock and aftermarket shocks and took them to Aftershocks for dyno plots.
I was helping him scrounge NB parts back when he was first starting out. http://y8spec.com/suspension/NB_mounts_to_NA_v1.gif <--- my big contribution. I dunno why folks would want to give him shit. |
Because he knows more than them, and that intimidates a lot of people.

Contribution link worked for me.

PS: your big contribution is "Not Found" true knowledge is knowing that there is more out there than you know. |

i like my agx's
