P0500 Speed Sensor Malfunction
So as I am finishing up the MS I am trying to tie up all the loose ends in my car. Fixing some of the wiring and taking care of some other problems I have been putting off.
One of the things that I want to take care of is a CEL for VSS Malfunction. The OBDII code is P0500. I've done some research and found that the NBs have a speed sensor on the tranny. From what I read though the NAs have a speed sensor that reads off the speedo cable in the instrument cluster. I don't know this for sure but thats what I've read. There isn't alot of information out there about this on NAs so it is my guess that this is not that common.
Speedo works fine, tach works fine, really no problems that I can see caused because of this, but I just want to make sure everything is in good shape before I start hooking up the MS so there is no supprises.
EDIT: I read this and realized I just made some vague statement and didn't really ask anything. I really just want to know where the VSS on a 97 and what might cause the CEL.

I don't have a 6 speed, but I do have the code so I would think there would have to be a speed sensor some where. Cruise control requires a speed sensor, and I think all OBDII cars have a speed sensor for emission functions.
