Another PCV/Breather/Catch can question
haven't seen this come up before. 1.6 block has an oil port on the passenger side. Anyone ever think to have a catch can drain into this port? I'm finally getting around to thinking about doing this...Intake manifold plugged, both valve cover ports to a catch can on passenger side. Catch can has filter on top to relieve pressures, catch can also has tube running out of the bottom to block.

That's a pressure port. The only train ports are in the cylinder head. You could run a Y on the turbo oil drain to send the can dump back to the pan. I believe the MSM does this OE. After looking at what comes from my catch can, I'm convinced this ok as my by-product is not too contaminated looking. And draining the can is just another thing to do.

I believe he's talking about the drain port that the Greddy uses by default? The cylinder block one.

correct it's definitely not a pressure port. it's where the original greddy kit drains. regardless, do you see any problems doing it that way? i figure it will work fine and i never have to empty out the can

Do it. It's how mazda does it with the mazda speed. I've considered this as well.
Rob, that's the stock oil return port for the GTX. |
oh - that sounds vaguely familiar now, so hellz yeah do it :bigtu:
