I think that the pulley is interchangeable between the two alternators.
But definitely +1 on the rebuild. Seems like finding competent starter/alternator shops is getting harder these days as most of the mass-market stuff is being done assembly-line style in Mexico, but shop around. When you find a crowded and dingy little shop with a hand-painted wooden sign, located in the part of town that used to be ok back in the 70's but is now a wasteland, filled with slanted wooden shelves upon which rest the whole history of the Lucas Electrical Co., staffed by a grey-haired old dude who won't shut up about his bugeyed Sprite, you've found the right place. That fellow can work miracles with copper. |
i have a 1.8 car, i just thought that the auto alt. is mcuh better...NM

For those who think what i see might be normal check this out, just before i shut the car off with the last logged drive. All through my log it was spazzing to 13 volts.
Attachment 215673 That is with no laod, so what is the concensus battery or alternator. I start at 12 volts pretty much most of the time. |
Magna, I would go to autozone and let them test your battery and alternator. Also clean your battery connectors for good measure. I suspect your batter is weak.
