Anyone 3D printing timing cover "caps" for re-route setups?

Picture stolen from @ooja3K's build thread:

So has anyone thought to produce a block-off piece for the guys who have removed and capped their front water neck? Asking for a friend...

Hmm, I guess you could super glue a piece of black plastic there instead. Otherwise you would have to screw it on.

Why not create a new upper cover that just doesn't have the gap?

I forget which build thread it is but I've seen someone cut and "mold" some ABS plastic in there and it looked pretty good...

That would be cool too but potentially a little more involving to produce for resale in large quantities. I've never worked with a 3D printer though so I'm completely unaware of the processes required...

I wouldn't want that entire cover 3d printed. That's alot of time to make one so it would be expensive. And the heat and vibrations would probably make it fail. A small flat piece I see surviving alot longer.

Right, it would be much easier to make a mold and vacuum form it, or make out of FRP or straight fiberglass.

This thread wasn't intended for the ghetto fixes we're all aware of but rather to see what, if anything existed on the homemade front that maybe has a more "finished" appearance.

:dunno:

In all seriousness, if someone wanted to provide dimensions or ship me a dust cover to measure myself, I could design and 3D print something that would fit there. I have a material that's good up to 250F, which should be enough in that location.

Just glued a piece of black plastic on mine, did that years ago, it's been fine.

Your picture isn't loading for me, pat.

Hey Stock, I can provide the part to send if you're willing to ship the cover to Eng-ninja.
